If you don't manage to pull off the Cloudshift combo, you can't cast him.
He is awesome though and being hit by his ultimate on turn 5 would be horribly painful :P

Not giving credit to Travis Woo, after you saw his deck hahaha priceless, yet sad. Shame on you.
February 18, 2015 6:43 p.m.
Hahaha if you get him out on turn 3 you can just start pot shotting lands. And the inability to hard cast him isn't really a problem since this deck would never be able to survive long enough to hard-cast Iona or Emrakruul anyways.
I really just can't get over how much I love this deck.
February 18, 2015 8:30 p.m.
Ooh and only just realised that it doesn't have to be a creature when I thought about Nicol Bolas xD
You should definitely run Omniscience. Get Omniscience down on turn 3, then cast Emrakul and Iona for free without even needing the cloudshift trick.

This is amazing lol +1 I want to build this sooo bad now.
The only real suggestion I think would work is Restoration Angel.Since the manifest creature doesn't have any creature type, the flicker ability would be available to use without the use of Cloudshift. Flashing in a 3/4 creature at instant speed for 4 seems optimal for board presence and to protect the combo from going off if your opponent tries to kill your manifest creature through enchantment hate or non targeted removal. It would seem ideal to run at least 2-3 in the deck as an alt win con if the manifest plan doesn't work. The deck seems to reliant on the combo going of that you would concede to some match ups that move faster than you.

DaigarStrasis, well, actually, I didn't saw Travis Woo's deck before I made this. After manifest came out, I wanted to make a deck. When I playtested on Cockatrice, some guy asked if I was playing the Travis Woo deck. And I was like, "Uhm, what?". I then saw his deck, and I must admit, that he made this a little earlier than me.... Well, i can't really prove, that I didn't took Travis idea.... I really regret, that I didn't make the deck earlier....
Jazzyboy Omniscience? Well... Hm.... Idk... If I don't have them in hand, they are dead cards... Ill try it out though :)
Femme_Fatale, Turn to Mist is better, since it cost . I don't think the flashback does anything...
GorehoundABB, well, why would it be better than a Cloudshift, it's a creature, yes, but it cost a lot of mana!
February 19, 2015 11:38 a.m.
Restoration Angel is only 4 mana and if you cloudshifted it in, you could cloudshift something else when she enters the battlefield. So you could pull out her and Emrakul in one move.

I feel like there should be some Reality Shifts in here that can be both removal and turn 2 exile your own Sage of Epityr so you have more than four chances to get that turn 2 manifest.

NorthernRaven has fallen to magical christmas land for combo players. You must have resiliency against any form of deck. Most combo decks are combo control for a reason, because otherwise, they get blown out of the water. Momentary Blink helps bypass counterspells and Restoration Angel is another body (a very good one at that) that puts the opponent on a quick clock. You need counterspells, removal and discard to work esper combo. Just being able to get it out on turn 3 does jack, especially against multicoloured decks and decks that can just rush you down. Reality Shift is a good suggestion.
What you need are orbs like Crystal Ball. That prevents the need to put in so many cantrips (keep Serum Visions though). Lili is imperative to have, especially when running Emrakul. Dismember, Slaughter Pact and Path to Exile are the general go to removal, but Reality Shift could easily replace a fair few of those. Cryptic Command, Mana Leak and Remand are your go to counterspells. Snapcaster Mage is a joy to use in tangent with blink effects. Just giving you a little heads up of what would work in the modern format.

I already made a similar deck a while back, just with Emrakul, the Aeons Torn instead of Iona. it IS a lot of fun to play though :) Though it is a bit of a glass cannon :p

Surprised nobody has mentioned it yet.
- Have Cloudform out already enchanting something.
- Attack with Brago, King Eternal and hit the enemy player.
Exile both Cloudform and the thing it's enchanting.
Free casts using Cloudform. EVERY TURN.

You know what would go great with this deck... Silence. Nothing to counter it, which would mean 4 worry-free turns. (I don't know if it's legal though. :)

Silence is not good in modern. On an Isochron Scepter yes, but in modern you'd be better off running a proper counterspell.
February 20, 2015 3:38 a.m.
DerpyEfalant says... #18
How come? Silence is full-on countering all spells casted by opponents. The spell can be played after the spell is cast, therefore countering all that with a good ol' Silence.
February 20, 2015 3:43 a.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #19
Silence doesn't stop them from playing spells in response nor does it actually do anything to hinder your opponents game plan. An actual counterspell does the same thing Silence will do, but better, as the card goes to the graveyard or exile. Remand is pretty much similar to silence, but you draw a card.
If Silence was modern playable, it wouldn't be a junk rare.

So I did get the Silence concept right! All along I thought the played spells go to the graveyard because of a special someone. -_-
February 20, 2015 4 a.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #21
Nope. It does nothing to spells that are played. Silence does not counter spells. Just prevents more spells from being played. Which is why it isn't used. Isochron Scepter + Silence would be an awesome play if it weren't for the fact that Abrupt Decay is in modern.

Oh, not too mention the plethora of artifact hate in modern.
February 20, 2015 4:29 a.m.
Okay, so, Femme_Fatale, you are saying, that I should go a way more control and slow route? With Crystal Ball and lots of control cards?
I might have fallen into a magical wonderland of weird combos, but this combo can be kind of hard to respond too. With Boseiju, Who Shelters All, I can on turn 3 basically win without the opponent responding...

Otherworldly Journey over Turn to Mist? I know it needs pure white, but Emrakul is totally useless without a +1/+1 counter xD

Is it just me, or is it that when you Cloudshift something with Cloudform on it, Cloudform is destroyed because it doesn't enchant anything?

What is everyone's opinion on Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker as a win con? :)
