Mono-Blue Devotion
By Christopher Haaf and Quinton Okamura
**We apologize for any similarities in this list with other lists that appear on tappedout or any other website that features decklists or articles about decks. We constructed this 75 using a list of all the possible cards to play in a Mono-Blue deck. These cards simply made the final cut.
FAQ
Q: Why run 8 Fetch Lands?
A: One of the problems that Chris has with aggro decks is that sometimes they draw too much land. the inclusion of eight main deck fetch lands is to filter out our basic land draws, and when paired with Military Intelligence, this allows for powerful mid game draws. Let's be fair, this deck will usually win in the mid game.
Q: Why Military Intelligence?
A: We referenced a lot of notes about the original Mono-Blue Devotion and came to some interesting conclusions. This three of spot can be filled by four different cards:
-Military Intelligence
-Monastery Siege
-Dictate of Kruphix
-Bident of Thassa
We made a list of pros and cons for each card and originally concluded that Dictate was the more powerful card. Since we had already made a final decision on the inclusion of Silumgar Sorcerer, Dictate seemed to have a cool little sweet spot on turn three where we could either cast it or the sorcerer. Whichever was better for situations, but after play testing for a couple days, we found that Dictate is not good enough for how perfectly it fits that sweet spot, so military intelligence was chosen instead, because we don't need to connect with a player to draw gas.
