Maybeboard


A Tuvasa EDH deck that I'm working on upgrading. I want it to be strong, but I don't want any infinite combos. Currently I want the wincons to be Tuvasa with commander damage, beaters like Luminarch Ascension and Sigil of the Empty Throne, and Helix Pinnacle.

First upgrades I plan to make are definitely upgrading the mana base to prevent so many lands from coming in tapped and to ensure that I have the colors I need at every stage of the game. I also want to start removing some of the cards that aren't so great and only barely fit the strategy of the deck, like Octopus Umbra.

Helix Pinnacle is out for Sythis, Harvest's Hand

The time has come. Helix is one of my favorite cards in the game, but it just doesn't work. At best it's just a 1-mana cantrip that adds to our enchantment count; I've yet to even come close to winning with the card. So I've removed it for the new enchantress, which also happens to be an enchantment AND gain us some life, plus the draw is on cast; can't get much better than that.

Dawn's Reflection is out for Sanctum Weaver

Dawn's Reflection is just too expensive for a ramp card. Sanctum Weaver is an amazing enchantment; it's Serra's Sanctum on a stick, that's also an enchantment, and can also tap for any color (not just white).

Guildgates are out for ABUR duals

My playgroup doesn't mind me including the ABUR duals because it makes games go faster, so I'm finally switching out the guildgates. Good riddance.

Some general thoughts on the deck: this deck normally finds it's wins with Tuvasa via commander damage, which is fine, but it feels too easy to shut her down and prevent me from doing much of anything. I think I'm going to start transitioning the deck towards not requiring Tuvasa as much to win and simply using her as a value engine and a late-game win condition. This will mean potentially adding more enchantress's, removing auras that don't give Tuvasa evasion and/or more damage, adding more control cards like Solitary Confinement and countermagic, and leaning on other win conditions like Luminarch Ascension, Sigil of the Empty Throne, Words of Wind, and possibly Starfield of Nyx.
