Not budget

Trockenmatt Minus Leylines in the sideboard the deck comes out at just above a hundred dollars. For modern if you want to play competitively, 200 dollars certainly can be considered budget and 100 definitely is. Considering most modern decks easily cost three or four times as much, I would say it is. However, I don't include "budget" as one of the tags as I know people will have that reaction.

Tldr; this is budget for a competitive deck.

Sexiest Fog deck of the year award goes to You sir. Not only does this deal with all decks pretty even handedly, Its cheap enough to build (minus the leylines O.o) for less than the price of a box. Good job sir.

Killkow Go first so that they mill themselves out first...xD

I like that Turbo fogs mirror plan is the same as burns mirror plan... Win the die roll xD

August 18, 2014 5:48 p.m.

I like it. Don't forget that leyline also kills storm. There is a reason behind its price. All in all this looks like a fun deck to pilot.

CapitanBanhammer I am very aware, the card is simply amazing. It hoses just so many different decks. It is a fun deck to pilot, though not for your opponent haha. Thanks for checking out the deck :)

I was wondering what you do when you go up against a mill deck? Mostly ones with Surgical Extraction and/or Extirpate ?

August 18, 2014 9:54 p.m.

Dalektable says... #12

raven1man

1) Not really worry about it, because mill is a non existent threat in modern.

2) Sideboard in Leyline of Sanctity and let them concede.

There is a card that I think would work well for you if i can remember the name.... I think it is Ensnaring Bridge that could help a lot if you run out of ways to draw. I also think two elixirs is 1 too many

Dalektable says... #14

wolfsokol Actually I usually keep an abundance of cards in hand so that card wouldn't be very effective...not to mention I run twenty fogs not counting if I imprint one. It's just really not the best option. And the elixir has always served well, I'm never disappointed to draw it as of yet.

hey Dalektable I was wondering also why not run a few duel color lands that produce black to maybe hit the Batwing Brume life loss? I think it could be useful on twin decks and some others as an insta-win It also could be helpful if you ever run into someone that plays Leyline of Punishment . I was thinking maybe a playset of Isolated Chapel

August 21, 2014 8:12 p.m.

Dalektable says... #16

raven1man I've definitely been thinking about that. It might be worth just throwing in a playset of Isolated Chapel , something that would be nice to have but not really needed. I'll test and see how it goes.

This deck seems great... what tier 1 decks does it lose to? I imagine B/G/x is one of them.

Perhaps one Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth would be enough. Additionally annihilator could be a pain for you, perhaps sideboard something to deal with Eldrazi Titans?

Nevermind. O-ring. I feel dumb.

Still, an Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth could help.

Love this deck, will probably build towards it as my next modern deck (I happen to have one of every colour except white!). Acouple things I noticed while playtesting that I'll point out, but you may already know:

Ethereal Haze - isn't just combat damage, can prevent effects like Eidolon of the Great Revel , Guttersnipe , Grim Lavamancer , etc.

I don't think you can Isochron Scepter + Batwing Brume since the scepter "casts without the mana cost" and batwing only has effects if certain mana is used for the cost.

Otherwise amazing deck. Have you thought of other sideboard win conditions besides Ascension + draw them out? Maybe Baneslayer Angel or something?

Myogenesis says... #20

As per my comment above, maybe 1-2 Inkmoth Nexus ?

August 25, 2014 11:59 p.m.

Dalektable says... #21

Myogenesis You got the Ethereal Haze and Batwing Brume Interactions exactly right. An alt win con is an idea, though I'm pretty much okay with playing the long game with this deck. Inkmoth Nexus is an idea, but I think with the abundance of removal it would just die as soon as I activated it. Maybe an Elspeth, Sun's Champion in the side? I don't know, but I encourage you to test anything you wish and let me know how it goes.

Femme_Fatale says... #22

An alternate win-con?

Tell them you will play casual instead.

Then, run Shahrazad .

My thoughts after playing this further are to possibly consider:

1) Path to Exile - there's some creatures where fog just isn't enough.

2) Darksteel Reactor - probably on par for speed with the draw win-con, assuming Howling Mine s are actually on the field. still just hilarious, although I guess the draw win-con doesn't need a card in your deck besides Elixir of Immortality .

3) Gideon Jura - hides behind wraths, dodges removal decently well. something to think about atleast.

August 26, 2014 2:05 p.m.

Dalektable says... #24

Myogenesis

1) I'm going to need an example for a strong enough argument to be made that wraths/what I already have in my sideboard can't handle.

2) It's an option but not needed.

3) It's a possibility, if someone wished to.

However, It's kind of hilarious...I was considering throwing an Azor's Elocutors in the SB for the lol's.
