This is my go at the Izzet Ensoul/Thopter/Citadel deck. I played a few versions, but felt I wasn't moving as fast as I wanted, so I threw in a few versatile one drops and am pretty happy with the three Military Intelligence. I don't want to be too tied down to the Scuttling Doom Engine + Shrapnel Blast combo, so I like to have the other options of Hammer of Purphoros, Keranos, God of Storms (Turn 3!) and a turn 4-6 Bestowed Hypnotic Siren with the help of Springleaf Drum and Generator Servant. I'm in the same boat as a bunch of these decks right now I think, being torn on the usefulness of Chief Engineer in this deck. He's bounced in and out. Overall, without any Soul of New Phyrexias (sad), I can't think of much usefulness aside from bringing Doom Engine out a little quicker and for cheaper, and the Drums speed and balance me and can be Ensouled.
