Need to take this in a different direction. As it sits, this deck is similar to but almost strictly inferior to Sidisi Whip. That's not the way I want to go, but I'm running out of ideas to really make Sultai work.

Do you think that Empty the Pits would work in this deck?

Firebirddy - I tried Empty the Pits in an early version of this deck. It's great occasionally, but pretty dead most of the time. Between Murderous Cut and Soulflayer ( Treasure Cruise in the old version ), there isn't usually enough graveyard fuel to get the huge Empty the Pits plays that make the card good. And taking out those cards to play Empty instead is just silly.

Hornet Queen is if not the best whip target in standard. I would add 1-2 in the mainboard

Brought in that Hornet Queen, among other changes. Loving the way this deck plays, though almost every deck I face is an aggro deck that runs me over before I get going, or the occasional UB control list that has all the answers.

Best feeling: Almost dead and facing down an Elspeth. Whip and Monastery Siege in play, nothing else of consequence. Discard Silumgar to Siege loot, Whip it into play and attack, killing tokens and bringing Elspeth low enough that she can't minus to kill a followup Soulflayer. Come back and win from there.

Worst feeling: Cast a Satyr Wayfinder, leaving Swamp and Polluted Delta untapped. Looking for an untapped land to follow up with Hero's Downfall on Ashiok. Flip up Swamp and Island, the last ones in the deck thus turning off the fetch, and it all goes downhill from there. The misplays are real.

My only suggestions would be to up the number of Hornet Queens, because like people have said, it is THE BEST TARGET for Whip, and add Pharika, God of Affliction to the deck for Indestructibility, and it works well on defense.
