I usually run mono-green or mono-red creature token spam decks but I made this deck in an effort to counter some of those decks and I settled on the Angel theme because a friend in my causal playgroup enjoys using these cards. Starting with the lands, the Seraph Sanctuary cards were added because of how frequently this deck will be sending Angels to the battlefield so the small +1 bonuses can add up quickly. As of the time of writing, I cannot think of any other non-basic lands to add to this deck.
With the exception of the Angelic Pages, the low-cost creatures I have selected for this deck can be a little dangerous. The Serra Avengers can't be played in the first few turns, the Haunted Angels spawn tokens for your enemies, and the Emancipation Angels force you to return a card to your hand. With these drawbacks in mind, they are relatively powerful considering how little mana they cost which can allow them to potentially bully decks with weaker creatures.
Gisela, the Broken Blade and Bruna, the Fading Light meld together to create Brisela, Voice of Nightmares, though it is worth noting that according to the standard rulings a player can have Brisela and either Gisela or Bruna both on the battlefield at the same time which is the main reason I have so many of each of these cards. The Archangel of Tithes force your opponents to be more careful with their mana usage which should make it easier to bully them.
Avacyn, Guardian Angel is a great way to cheaply make any one of your other creatures invincible and later in the game provides a way for you to avoid all of the damage by one color which is a perfect counter to the mono-colored aggro decks I mentioned in my first paragraph. The lone Baneslayer Angel was a card I wasn't sure I wanted to added at first, but I wanted another Angel that costs five mana and this is a powerful choice that also has protection against two of the better tribal counters to Angels, Dragons and Devils.
The Deathless Angels, like Avacyn, Guardian Angel, provide a cheap way to make one of your creatures invincible but the Deathless Angels can target themselves and their protections are not restricted to one color. Avacyn, Angel of Hope and Iona, Shield of Emeria are both great ways to help smother your opponent if the game really begins to drag on, but I only included a few of these cards because of their high costs. It is worth noting that according to the standard rulings you should be able to have Avacyn, Guardian Angel and Avacyn, Angel of Hope on the field at the same time, though if you have the Angel of Hope then playing the Guardian Angel likely shouldn't be a probability.
Thank you for taking time to examine this deck. I am of course open to suggestions and while I would like to try to keep this deck as a mono-white angel deck if a card that does not fit that theme is worth adding then I will certainly consider doing so. There is potential to play with cards that are affected by the player's life total thanks to the Seraph Sanctuary lands and this was a direction I was considering to take with this deck. I also admit that the creature choices may not be optimal and that I don't have any non-creature spells which is something that might need to be changed.
