I had a long road creating this deck. A lot of blacks purpose is to kill things where as blue counter's them. Therefore I love Dimir and it is really used a lot to mil. My problem with regular control mil was no life gain. With this set up life gain isn't my concern anymore. I would love suggestions I will be trying this deck out at the next FNM. First here is a little break down of the deck.
There are 0 creatures in this deck as I want to control the board. I did greatly consider putting AEtherling in this deck, however as it is supposed to be a turn 8 drop (two blue mana to blink him out) my mana would better be used for other things such as:
Mind Grind
The basic mil section of this deck consists of the following cards and I consider them doing their effect at least once:
2x Jace, Memory Adept 20 milled cards
2x
Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver
6 milled cards
4x
Psychic Strike
8 milled cards
4x
Pilfered Plans
8 milled cards
Comes out to 42 cards being milled if you do the planes-walkers effects just once. Most decks consist of 60 cards meaning:initial 7 card draw plus 42= 49 cards out of their library.
This is not including
Mind Grind
meaning at the very least maybe X could be 4. Long story short there is a lot of really good mil in this deck.
For creature control I have the following cards:
4x Devour Flesh life doesn't matter as that isn't the win condition
4x Whelming Wave delaying until you can counter
4x Essence Scatter most people run creatures
4x Hero's Downfall Versatile Card
4x
Psychic Strike
Great counter spell
Everything is 3 mana or less except for Whelming Wave.
A side note I put 25 lands in the deck because everything late game needs a lot of mana such as:
Mind Grind
Jace, Memory Adept
All very expensive cards and can be game winning cards.
I anticipate my biggest challenge will be burn decks and then I hope I can have enough
Psychic Strike
to get through round one. Round two and three may be a whole lot easier.
