Drop the Elspeths, id run either more removal/burn, or Ajani, Caller of the Pride if you want a walker. Tormented Hero should come out, with no way to use its heroic it does you no good. Otherwise not too bad, just a few tweaks and it could probably turn out pretty cool.

ok i took out:

4x Tormented Hero 2x Elspeth, Sun's Champion

added:

3x Brave the Elements 1x Boros Elite 2x Assemble the Legion

Thanks for the comments. i didnt really consider that i had NO way to trigger the heroic. i may consider the ajani if i had something like Phalanx Leader so it would trigger across the board but he just doesnt seem super strong to me in this one.

So I have thought about running one of these two cards (leaning towards Dictate of Erebos ) in the deck. However that would bump my curve up to the point where i would need to raise my land count from 22 to either 23-24, which is a compromise i dont know that this deck could handle. I think the dictates would be better suited for a more midrange deck featuring cards like Brimaz, King of Oreskos and Elspeth, Sun's Champion 's tokens. with all the enchantment removal around, i think i would rather invest in a 3rd Spear of Heliod over a 5-cost Dictate of Heliod . Thank you for the suggestions though! they will definitely be considered if this deck takes a turn towards being midrangey.

I think that Dictate of Heliod would be an amazing inclusion here. It's an anthem combat trick that sticks around to make all of your creatures into huge threats. It makes your 1-drop draws mid-late game less of a headache, as suddenly they're much bigger than 2/1s that can be dealt with in an instant. Maybe try to playtest some with:

-1 Ultimate Price - You have Spear of Heliod and Banishing Light as your removal package

-1 Banisher Priest - Same reason

-1 Xathrid Necromancer - He's good but you never want too many of them

+2 Dictate of Heliod

+1 Plains or Temple of Silence - Plains is obviously good because it comes in untapped, but later game the only lands you want to be drawing are the temples, but either way you want to throw in that extra land so you can hit the mana for Dictate of Heliod

Of course, just a suggestion. I like the deck, shot a +1 its way when I saw it and I thought I'd contribute some!

hmm, i really think that ill give Dictate of Heliod a chance. i have also considered Launch the Fleet in the deck as a late game thing. I also have considered taking out Athreos, God of Passage , i just find id rather be doing other things on turn 3. i think i may try to keep Ultimate Price in just because i want 4 removal spells, especially in case i run into the ever troublesome Courser of Kruphix . suggestions will be tested though. Thank you guys so much for the suggestions!

To be honest, in my experiences I've always found Launch the Fleet to be pretty weak. Think about this:

Turn 6, you have 5 creatures out. Lets say you have a Soldier of the Pantheon , two Precinct Captain s, one Soldier Token, and one Daring Skyjek .

Casting a 5-mana (WWWWW) Launch the Fleet would give you 5 soldier tokens if you attacked with all of your creatures. Launch the Fleet is sorcery speed, and you'd likely have to tap out to cast something that big, so they'll know what to expect and they can assign blockers favorably for them. So for spending your entire turn you get 5 1/1s but potentially lose some of your better creatures. Of course, you could not attack so that they can't block, but then you're just stalling the game even later, which your deck definitely doesn't want. In the end, a few 1/1s in the late game just won't cut it.

Casting a 5-mana (3WW - much less restrictive mana cost) Dictate of Heliod MID-combat would have a much greater effect. You declare every one of your five creatures as attackers, and they assign blockers favorably for them. Then, you tap five mana and cast the Dictate of Heliod , turning what they thought to be favorable blocks into less favorable ones for them. Not only this, the Dictate sticks around and keeps any guys you play later on pumped up.

If you want to keep the removal package, try removing x2 Launch the Fleet for x2 Dictate of Heliod . I think you'll find that overall, Dictate will help you close out more games than Fleet will.

As for Athreos, God of Passage , I like him in here. Against removal-heavy decks that you'll usually have problems with, this guy is your best friend. Forcing a BWx control player to pay 6-9 life just to stop you from getting your entire board back to your hand after a Supreme Verdict is huge, and that MBD player will have to think twice about using Bile Blight . It may not seem like it, but 3 life for each creature that dies adds up fast. Not to mention what would happen if you can turn him on and start smashing face with your 5-power indestructible for 3CMC.

Food for thought. Good luck with the deck!

Oh, I thought Launch the Fleet 's Strive cost was W. Ignore that statement about the mana costs, the other points are still valid, haha.

Of course, that's what Tappedout is here for, to let us help each other out.

Speaking of which, I'd like to get some opinions on my own BW humans deck: Aristocrats of Athreos. If you could even just check it out, that'd be great! It was definitely inspired by this deck.
