This is a deck built around Lich's Mastery which, at the time of writing, has been released in the recent Dominaria set. This deck is built around a shell of Mardu Control. The deck has been mostly tested against aggressive decks; in my current experience, the deck is fairly effective at blunting early aggression and waiting for the opponent to slow down, at which point it becomes safer to cast Lich's Mastery. Once Lich's Mastery is on the battlefield, the healing from cards like Soulfire Grand Master and Authority of the Consuls turns into card draw, which then serves as both defense and further control. The win condition is Approach of the Second Sun, which will immediately draw itself again after casting if you have become a Lich.

Most of the cards that are being used have the potential to be switched out for their more common counterparts in Modern. For personal and money related reasons I have substituted cards such as card:Thoughtsieze with Harsh Scrutiny. The same goes for Chained to the Rocks and Magma Spray, which can easily be switched with Path to Exile and Lightning Bolt, respectively.

Possible changes to make to the deck include finding a place for Torment of Hailfire in the maindeck as a second win condition with Crypt Ghast. Additionally, there's currently nothing super desirable to tutor off of Nahiri's final ability; Goblin Dark-Dwellers is in the sideboard for testing, but finding a good target for her is another challenge. The standby Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is an option, though I have not had the opportunity to test it.
