Lots and lots of ways to sacrifice just because you can!
Mostly created this deck wanting to abuse both
Gutter Grime
and Golgari Germination to grow a recyclable army. Lots of ways to speed up your card draw and look for the things you need without losing your resources to the graveyard. Managed to pull rather annoying combos even with only 3 mana available~
Nothing goes to waste with the Golgari! Abuse every single creature produced on purpose knowing you'll supplant more, eventually overrunning with your Gutter Grime or draining with Blood Artist, and even if you end up drawing excess of things you have, you have things like Cryptbreaker to find use in the duplicates~
This deck is capable of stealing all of your opponent's life while swarming with rapidly growing armies, whittling them down as you swell in strength:
- Your brawn will come from Demonlord of Ashmouth and
Gutter Grime
.
- Creature Removal from Festering Mummy (block with him and use his effect to kill 2/2's or even another 1/1), Grave Pact, Blasting Station, and a bit from Mikaeus, the Unhallowed.
- Card Draw from Cemetery Recruitment, Costly Plunder, Beseech the Queen, and scry from Viscera Seer
- Sacrificing/Benefits from sacing from
Gutter Grime
, Golgari Germination, Grave Pact, Blasting Station, Blood Artist, Costly Plunder.
Lot's of nice little combos here and there, including one infinite with Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, explained below. You'll want to get to a point where you can begin sacing things freely as soon as possible for reaping benefits, then find your means to constantly sac as many times as possible in a single turn, usually starting with Gravecrawler and another zombie. Then, it's as simple as finding any of your means to sacrifice freely like Viscera Seer and Blasting Station to get the ball rollin.
Combos:
Festering Mummy + its effect at any of your undying creatures after they've died once - ex: play Geralf's Messenger, sac it, undying trig, sac FesterMum, use its effect on Messenger, the +1 and -1 counters remove each other allowing you to sac Messenger twice again before he stays in the GY, allowing a possible 6 loss of life from that combo alone, stealing another 4 life on top of that if you have a single Blood Artist out~
Forbidden Orchard + Blasting Station - using both without worry of creating creatures because you can easily ping them right back out of existence, further abusing Blood Artist. Even if you can't create a creature for yourself to untap the Station, the Orchard will do that for you so you can continue using it. (Also great against decks that don't produce many low toughness creatures.)
Golgari Germination + Blasting Station - sacing a nontoken creature will spawn a Saproling, untapping the Station, ready to consume the Sapro immediately~
Mikaeus, the Unhallowed + 2 Festering Mummy's - much like the first combo, you can use the Mummy to target your own creatures. Mikaeus allows them to come back immediately w/ Undying after sacing. Simply sac one Mum, it comes back w/ +1/+1, then sac the other Mum, targetting the first one, knocking off the +1/+1, allowing you to sac it again, chaining infinitely for ALL your effects to go off. Having a single Blood Artist out for this will seal the deal.
The bulk of the expense from this deck comes from Verdant Catacombs, Grave Pact, Mikaeus, the Unhallowed, Geralf's Messenger, and Woodland Cemetery, which can all be substituted for other much cheaper options to make this a reasonably cheap deck~
