Maybeboard

So this is a work in progress (bank account permitting) of a cheerio artifact storm deck. At the moment it's about 85% optimised and the last few major pieces for me are Grim Monolith and Scalding Tarn.

You will be trying to get Jhoira out as soon as possible - it's possible to storm off on turn one with lotus petal and a mana crypt. This is a glass cannon kind of deck and you are ideally trying to win the same turn you play Jhoira, though sometimes even if she gets burned it doesn't matter much since the large amount of mana rocks like Mana Vault will allow you to play her again. Once you start storming off with cheerios like Spellbook and Urza's Bauble you'll be comfortably drawing and playing cards - hopefully grabbing a crypt or sol ring to keep the mana going. Cost reducers like Helm of Awakening are also fantastic in allowing you to draw through the entire deck.

At some point you will draw into a wincon - Reckless Fireweaver , Aetherflux Reservoir , psychosis crawler can kill the table if you just keep drawing and playing cards. If you hit infinite mana with Isochron Scepter and Dramatic Reversal - or any hideous accidental combo with Urza, Lord High Artificer - you should be able to nuke the board with Walking Ballista .

Getting stuck is your biggest concern - drawing into a land with nothing to play is a horrible sinking feeling. To stop this, you need to be very careful how you sequence your plays. There are a number of cards that help with this issue like card:artficer's assistant, Mystic Forge and the best one, Sensei's Divining Top . Pyrite and Aether Spellbomb are also great in a pinch. I've used goblin welder to resurrect a spellbomb when I've been desperate.

Any mass artifact removal card MIGHT ruin your day - but at least it wont kill Jhoira or Vedalken artificer. Hopefully you will have enough card advantage to recover the turn after a mass removal You can recover from a shatterstorm.

Hatebears from Blood Pod like trinisphere and null rod will slow you down - try using Hurkyl's Recall to get rid of problem cards like these. Other anti storm cards like Thalia Guardian of Thraben can be dealt with with a pyrite or Aether Spellbomb .

Enchantments are especially problematic and you'll need to use a Chain of Vapor and try to combo off that turn.

Keeping Jhoira alive is often a challenge - people will save a counterspell for her. I'm toying with the idea of including a pact of negation in addition to Force of Negation here to make sure she sticks.

There's also a danger of you drawing through the entire deck and killing yourself - if you get to this point you were never going to win anyway.

Mana Severance is very powerful as it allows you to remove all lands from your deck and draw only into artifacts/historics.

Paradoxical Outcome, Mystic Forge and Urza are all absolutely fantastic and help to stop you from getting stuck.

There are a couple of unusual meta calls like Gustha's Scepter and some emergency stax elements like Words of Wind , Karn, the Great Creator and Winter Orb . Weatherlight is in purely for Vorthos reasons and so far I've only managed to use it as an imprint target for Semblance Anvil.

I'm thinking about cutting Ugin and other higher curve cards to sub them with more efficient mana rocks. Mox Diamond is a definite goer once I can afford it. Tolaria West is also probably a good choice. I can't decide if Emry is totally great or a potential gameplan ruiner yet.

This is my first published deck so, thanks for reading!
