This deck was built to take advantage of Vraska the Unseen's ultimate. The assassins, Doom Blades, Assassinates, etc. and creatures with Deathtouch are there to clear the board so that once Vraska is out, you can start working on getting her loyalty where you need it.

So far, I really like what this deck can do. It's not super-fast (I haven't played it against a burn deck, but I could see the potential of being beaten by one) but against creature decks, the deathtouch and "destroy target creature" abilities make a big difference. It's not unusual for me to win games without using Vraska's ultimate, or even getting her on the battlefield, but winning a game where you're down to a single-digit life total and your opponent has a ton of life is much more fun. :)

Update: I decided to sideboard the Doom Blades, since they are useless against mono black decks and I was able to add some cards that I feel would be better on the mainboard.
