Did you look at this U tron primer? It seems solid.

Yes quesobueno123, it was quite helpful

If ugin is the question, the answer is HELL YES!

I would rather run 2x Ugin than karn any day

kungfuturtle: karn is better in tron. He comes down turn 3 assuming you have all the tron pieces, unlike ugin, and he has more relevant abilities.

WicKid52: I'm not sure about more relevant. I feel that if Ugin was 7 mana they would play him instead of (or alongside) Karn. (But I am not a Tron player so I'm not sure.)

I think Ugin is okay though he fills a similar role as Oblivion Stone, of which you only run 1.

Ugin is great for Blue Tron. He's a recurring almost-one-sided board wipe, spot removal, and damage when you need it. Plus his ult almost always wins the game. He does have the possibility of coming down T3 (with a T2 Talisman - although this is about as ideal as it gets). I've reduced the count of Repeal in my list to two so that I can run a single Ugin. I also don't run Oblivion Stone, and you can probably reduce the count of Mindslaver to one. You never want to draw a second, especially when you can just recur it with Academy Ruins. You could probably run another Sad Robot in its place, but it's really up to what you find works in your meta.

I would definitely run 1 or 2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragons in here.

Blue tron doesnt worry about getting tron lands out on time so much but relies on their much bigger end game and stalls the opponent until they reach it.

Ugin, the Spirit Dragon not coming down turn 3 is an issue for RG Tron players, but in this deck he would certainly hep in your aggro based meta you spoke abou, maybe as a 2 of in place of 1 Mindslaver (you only need one as a win con and you have tutors for it as well), and possibly in place of your Oblivion Stone as it serves a similar purpose when it comes down

Thank you everyone, ugin it is. My only problem with it is that it can't be tutored up. I think running two would be a good idea anyway though.

I run mono U Tron in an aggro meta. Everytime I've dropped an Ugin, it's been GG. The deck digs fast enough that two of them have been more than enough. One thing to consider against aggro is upping the count of Platinum Angel it really makes their life difficult.

maxami868 says... #11

PValBlanc (and anyone else), would you say wurmcoil or platinum angel is better against aggro?

March 11, 2015 2:22 p.m.

PValBlanc says... #12

You need both. Platinum Angel keeps you alive. Wurmcoil Engine wins you the game. I've won games at -85 life against aggro decks. A lot. I never change my wurmcoil count. 2 of, all day, every day.

maxami868 says... #13

PValBlanc, what would come out for a second angel?

March 11, 2015 2:29 p.m.

PValBlanc says... #14

No contest, the second Mindslaver. You pretty much never need two. You've got Fabricate and Treasure Mage for that.

PValBlanc, I was thinking of cutting 1 Mindslaver and 1 Oblivion Stone for 2 Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. Do you think I should put in another platinum angel instead of one of the ugins or run 2 ugin and 2 angel?

March 11, 2015 9:33 p.m.

Ihazadeck says... #16

i would i actually throw in Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur instead of Sundering Titan. I also think if you dont have a karn just throw in the Ugin, the Spirit Dragon. please take a loot at my modern deck and tell me what you think Selesnya Carebears.

March 12, 2015 6:31 p.m.

Ihazadeck says... #17

oh and you got a plus 1 from me

March 12, 2015 6:32 p.m.

maxami868 says... #18

Ihazadeck, the thing about jin-gitaxias is that it isn't an artifact which makes it un-tutorable (it is a sweet card though). Also, I'd be happy to have a look at your deck.

wakawakawaka says... #19

what's the point of having 2 mindslavers? why not just run more treasure mages

March 12, 2015 8:28 p.m.

maxami868 says... #20

wakawakawaka, 1 Mindslaver is coming out for another Platinum Angel.

I just recently tossed 2x AEtherize into my list. They save your ass vs aggro. Great as a last word even after apostles blessing or vines of vastwood vs infect.

March 15, 2015 8:39 a.m.

maxami868 says... #22

Zoo, I'll definitely consider AEtherize. Also, what do people think of Tolaria West?

March 15, 2015 8:48 a.m.

DNB says... #23

Usually the consensus is too slow. But if you play more casually it can be fun

March 15, 2015 9:10 a.m.

PValBlanc says... #24

I keep a Tolaria west for two reasons. In a pinch it can tutor for Pact of Negation (sidenote: if you have a platinum angel on the board you don't need to pay for the pact on your upkeep. Second it's a blue source that doesn't cost a life to use.

March 15, 2015 9:48 a.m.

PValBlanc says... #25

That said, if you're not running Pact of Negation its not really worth it. Yes, you csn tutor for your tron pieces with it, but I mean hey, you've got Expedition Map anyways.
