Sideboard

Azorius control on a semi-budget.

Here are some of the card choices:

General Tips:

  • As always, use Remand as a tempo play and (generally) whenever you can. You can use it late to bounce your own spells in a counter-war.
  • I found it helps to play the walkers as late as turn 5 or 6, since against aggro you have to answer the board early anyway and around that time you have enough mana for one of your Gideons or Elspeth plus Archmage's Charm or Counterspell , so they don't get immediatelly countered or removed.
  • When the board isn't being pressured, you can afford an early Narset if you know what you need in the matchup.
  • Since almost all your removal exiles, you don't have to worry too much about graveyard recursion.
  • Ever curved Gideon of the Trials into Shatter the Sky ? Mmmmh, juicy.
  • Winds of Abandon , Shatter the Sky and Path to Exile only hit creatures. If possible, try to counter your enemies other permanents like Planeswalkers and enchantments. You have tools for permanents in Detention Sphere , but a resolved planeswalker ist hard to deal with when you don't have a Colonnade or a Gideon that can connect.
