Jund sacrifice deck. It seems like the obvious upgrade to the Rakdos
Mayhem Devil
deck. You give up some of the midrangey feel by becoming a Coco deck, but there's also a lot of great value you can Coco into in the sacrifice deck.
For sac outlets we have 3x
Priest of Forgotten Gods
, 4
Witch's Oven
, and 3
Woe Strider
. Since we're a creature deck, Priest makes more sense than a lot of other sac outlets, such as
Lampad of Death's Vigil
but I'm not in love with needing 2 creatures, or with waiting a turn to get my value.
Witch's Oven
is here for the cat combo, but there's a minor food them in the deck, and food will win you games sometimes. You can use these effects while Kroxa's effect is on the stack to get extra value (such as 2 food tokens or a free scry).
Woe Strider
is good, but I needed to make space for my Lurrus pile, and with Kroxa you've still got a lot of Escape options in the late game.
3
Collected Company
seems standard in these lists, and there are a lot of fun interactions that come out of this deck from a Coco.
I wasn't going to give up either Kroxa or Lurrus. Kroxa is incredibly powerful, I'm happy getting the front end of this off of a Coco, and the back end gives you a comeback plan against control. In a world without Uro, I'm happy I invested in Kroxa. Lurrus is good - it is a magnet for removal that gets you really good value turn after turn if not disrupted, it just adds more value GY loops to a deck doing value GY loops. I always try and hold off on casting it till I can immediately cast something from my GY, but this isn't correct in ever matchup. The Lifelink is especially notable. I've grinded Lurrus loops out for 3 turns before attacking with Lurrus into an obvious trade, and won the game on 3 life. Don't sleep on maindeck Lurrus. 2 if fine.
I'd run 2 Valki like all the other kids, just for the flex of having a good late-game planeswalker that doubles as extra hand hate, and I love the idea of Cocoing into this plus Lurrus on t3. I only run 1 because that's one less Mythic Rare wildcard I have to invest in, but I'll pick up the second if I like the Valki side more than I expect to.
Dreadhorde Butcher
is usually a 4 of, I'm mixed on this card. It's never failed me in a game, it always has some impact, and is great against slower decks. But I still think I prefer cocoing into Mayhem Devil + Kroxa than hitting these.
I've always been high on
Gilded Goose
, so 3 of them make the cut. The food loops are good with
Cauldron Familiar
, and Cocoing turn 3 is also very nice. Decent mana fixing, good if you have it with Lurrus and a Sac Outlet, and it's a decent mana dork (and a flyer, sometimes relevant).
Claim the Firstborn
is great if you have a sac outlet, but terrible if you don't. I'm not going to argue with the standard for removal, even if Push looks more interesting on my first glance, but it made sense as a cut, to keep the creature count high for Coco.
Made for BO1 on Arena.
Updated the list, trying to narrow in on a more consistent list. Cut Valki - the Tibalt side is good, but too slow, and not an insta-win or 2 for 1, the Valki side sucks now that Uro is gone. Made room for more sac outlets, and cut a land for the 4th
Claim the Firstborn
. Lurrus/Kroxa package is still here,
Dreadhorde Butcher
is still reallty good vs slower decks, there are just tons of recursive engines in the deck. My main slump with the deck, if you will, is that people seem to be countering it pretty hard, so even if it is the best deck, it might be a little rough to play in a meta prepared for it to be the best deck. (I'm not even saying it is - my matchups vs Goblins with all of my decks are bad IMO).
Cut 1 Scooze for a
Midnight Reaper
because the card is pushed and keeps putting up results for other people. (Immediately changed my mind, put back in Scooze and cut a Kroxa, which is kind of bad in multiples.)
