Synopsis:
This deck is mostly about doing energy counter shenanigans. It mainly uses Aether Revolt and Reckless Fireweaver to deal direct damage while Izzet Generatorium and Decoction Module generate energy and Whirler Virtuoso is the energy payoff. It also aims to make as many Thopter 1/1 C tokens with an infinite thopter loop.
The main win condition is to get Aether Revolt rolling. That and Reckless Fireweaver are the payoffs for the infinite thopter loop from combining Whirler Virtuoso and Decoction Module. In order to loop infinitely you need to have at least one Decoction Module and two other ways of generating energy. This could be with other Decoction Modules or Izzet Generatoriums. In order to proc "Revolt" on Aether Revolt you can use one of the removal spells on one of your own creatures, sacrifice Bountiful Landscape, or sacrifice Aether Spellbomb.
It's a combo deck so you really want to get all your pieces out there. I also added some control to help protect your pieces until you can assemble the combo. Galvanic Discharge is such a good removal card for any energy counter-based deck. Aether Spike similarly is a great counter spell. There is also some card draw to try to put your pieces together.
This isn't the most powerful deck in the world, but between an infinite combo, card draw, and interaction I think it's pretty fun and plays relatively well.
I really wanted to add Retrofitter Foundry to this deck. Unfortunately it isn't modern legal. But it works so well that if you're in a playgroup that doesn't care about format, or are ok making this deck legacy, then it is a great add.
So I made a couple thopter art pieces. These are to go along with my thopter decks because I'm extra like that. This is a thopter-based card sleeve design. It's based on the diagram art like in Ornithopter. If anyone wants to use it for anything you're more than welcome to. It could also probably work as a custom token if you want. If anyone is interested in using this as a token let me know and I can add "Thopter" to the top and "Flying" and "1/1" at the bottom.
The other thing I made is a 3D model of this thopter design. I used it to glue to a deck box but it can be used as a token or just have a thopter buddy chilling. Or whatever really.
