Thanks for the suggestions, WonderbreadDan, I really like the switch-out for Smothering Abomination. I feel like Fleshbag Marauder could be good, but I'm not sure what to remove for it?

I would say run 2 of Sidisi, Undead Vizier so you can tutor for Smothering Abomination and run less than 4. triskadelphawhatever is really fun but for the sake of competition fleshbag can take its place. I would consider going to 3 diregraf colosus and 3 sinister concoctiuon to make room for more marauding bags of flesh. I have a very similar list set up I really like the subtle differences between ours! Nice work

Minus 4 Sinister Concoction, +4 Fleshbag Marauder. The fleshbag is absurd with diregraf. If you have any, Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet is a nice zombie spawner, and failing that Risen Executioner is an awesome lord to have.

Many thanks to WonderbreadDan and DaftVader for their suggestions. I have now incorporated Fleshbag Marauder into the main deck. I ended up going with Sidisi, Undead Vizier over Risen Executioner partially because I don't want to invest too much into cards that will rotate this fall. Ultimately I would love to replace those with a pair of Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet but the price is out of reach right now. Hopefully this is a decent enough list thanks to your suggestions to get a couple of wins at FNM!

Smothering Abomination is really really bad for you as you lose control of when and how you sacrifice at least one creature a turn. True you can incorporate it in, but if you get jammed up with only a couple of creatures it can really hurt you, especially in such a removal heavy meta.
I'd find a replacement with Kalitas. If you can't afford it, then cut some losses and add in Ruinous Path as while its speed it bad, its options are great, and having Gideon or Jace removal to hand is essential.

disagree that Smothering Abomination is bad for the deck, if you have nothing to sac you just sac it to itself. That being said i would run two max. Because you use From Under the Floorboards , I recommend keeping Sinister Concoction or adding additional Macabre Waltz bc madness makes from under the flobos amazing. Would greatly appreciate a look at my list which also needs help: SOI Standard Zombies

Thanks for the help, everyone! I think that I have the deck updated to a point that I am happy with as a first shot for this Friday. The plan is to get the cards tonight so hopefully it will go well.
I feel like there's some correct mix of Smothering Abomination and Read the Bones so I will plan on picking up a playset of each and messing around with the right number to include while playtesting.

another include could be Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip. good synergy with sac/recursion/makes a zombie token

While she would be nice, I traded my single copy in to fund this deck since she's probably hit her price ceiling.

Add the color blue. It has good zombies with their own graveyard recursion.

I would recommend splashing to blue too.
you could trade the Rogue's Passage and a couple swamps for some Choked Estuary or Sunken Hollow, and with blue you could just throw a few Slip Through Space to deliver the killing blow with the Nantuko Husk
I have a somewhat similar deck (Relentless Zombies) but haven't had the chance to put it to the test yet. I did like the idea of adding Smothering Abomination to get card advantage, though.
I too considered using From Under the Floorboards but it ended up not making the cut. A sorcery speed spell putting tapped tokens seemed a bit underpowered to me for its cost, even with the life gain. Was it any good on your opinion?

I have definitely been considering splashing blue, or maybe even white for Anguished Unmaking and Sorin, Grim Nemesis. If I went blue I would definitely go after Prized Amalgam, Compelling Deterrence, and Slip Through Space. I want to run this out at one more FNM to get a better sense of the meta before committing to another color, and maybe even hope to see a couple of Eldritch Moon spoilers.
@rafaelvva, while I have found From Under the Floorboards to be good in the late game as a stabilizer and extra fodder for sac outlets, I'm not sure it's actually that compelling unless you have regular access to a discard outlet, which I did originally. It's mostly useful as a way to gain some time if you're behind, but I feel like there could be something better to do that in the mix of cards available.

I agree with splashing blue. Gisa and Geralf and Prized Amalgam alone are worth the splash. Forgotten Creation is also a great option for cycling your deck (if you can bring the creatures back).
I run a b/u zombie deck that has been testing extremely well. Working on getting Fleshbag Marauder back in there for the board control. Check it out and maybe get a few ideas if you want to go the dual color route White Walker Horde.

@kcpainter they're definitely great cards, but since I don't have and of the dual lands or them I'm going to hold off on splashing and see how prices change. I'll probably either splash or switch decks at rotation, depending on what kaladesh brings to standard.

Smothering Abomination could be good, maybe instead of read the bones. Fleshbag Marauder is great as well
