This is a project deck that I've had in the works for a long time. With a zombie theme, it transformed over time from a simple devotion/reanimator, to full blown reanimation/dredge. I'm still tweaking a lot of things, but here is the breakdown of the strategy:
The main idea of this deck is to get as many creatures reanimated from your graveyard in as fast a time as possible, using a combination of discard and dredge, the deck uses powerhouse combos like Faithless Looting and
Golgari Grave-Troll
to rapidly fill the 'yard with easily recurring creatures, such as Gravecrawler, Bloodghast, and Prized Amalgam.
Burning Inquiry
makes for good synergy with your dredging as well, and can also function as early turn hand disruption on your opponents. Lotleth Troll and
Viscera Dragger
combo very nicely with
Golgari Grave-Troll
in case the two previously stated discard options are unavailable. The biggest beaters of the deck are going to be your
Golgari Grave-Troll
and Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord which get beefed by all those creatures you dump into your 'yard.
With the amount of card draw in the deck, I opted for a low mana base, which allows for more creatures and more chances for
Liliana's Indignation
to hit off as a bomb.
I'm hoping to get some good tips on how to set up my strategy better, so any ideas are much appreciated. It would be great if this deck became competitive, but the reliance on graveyard recursion might not allow that, with all of the graveyard hate in modern. Either way, I think it can be a powerful theme deck in it's own right.
Hope you guys enjoy it!
