Hobbez9186 So Crater Elemental is a good card for this deck as we know but as no more than 2 for me. One of the best plays I had with it today was with it and Omnath, Locus of Rage on the board and it went as follows: Declared blockers with Crater Elemental blocked paid did 4 damage and killed an adjacent creature with the sac ability then used the 3 damage from Omnath's trigger to kill the 3rd creature on the board. Effectively stopping his offense and clearing his board except for the 1 that was blocked. Will that happen often? It's happened 4 out of 9 games so often enough lol. An effective way to clear the board if both Crater Elemental are on the battlefield. It was quite exciting to see his face when it happened hahaha

Exactly. Nicely done. Has the 23 lands been enough? I bet you haven't even noticed.

The 23 works just fine with the finalized tweaking. With 4 craters it didn't but with 2 I saw no difference in land draw than I did with no craters at all so it's working fine.

Another card possibly worth mentioning is Pulse of Murasa. Most of the time I find myself using it to fetch Evolving Wilds for a couple of land drops, but it can also be handy if Mina and Denn or Omnath get taken out.

Wow, great deck, congrats.Just one suggestion though, consider maybe putting 2 Smokebraider, I have a similar deck, with the ramp concept and the omnath as well, and her really helped me out in inumerous situations. Sorry for any grammar mistake, not primary language.

With smoke braider the deck wouldn't be legal in standard format any more. Fine for modern though.

oh... didn't know that, srry. Well... looks like someone will have to make some serious changes on his deck

July 6, 2016 10:42 a.m.

If Smokebraider were legal in standard I would have it included already. Hoping the new set has some cards to help or better this deck and keep it standard legal if not I'll be playing modern until I can find something fun to build for standard that isn't the cookie cutter "top" decks everyone else will be buying and running. Pulse of Murasa was in the sideboard but I never had a match where I actually needed it. I use my Evolving Wilds and Warped Landscape fetches fairly efficiently and never needed them past their first use.

Would Zendikar Incarnate fit in this deck?

July 9, 2016 3:36 p.m.

I have him and if I had to slide him in it would be to replace Grove Rumbler it's definitely a good card just doesn't live through Languish since it's toughness is static at 4 but a Swell of Growth on defense or Atarka's Command pump can save him easily.

Seems very fun to play, congratulations :D I'd give Tireless Tracker a try, since he has a sort-of ''Landfall'' ability and can pump. Maybe switch him with Undergrowth Champion?

Also Embodiment of Fury (good body, animates lands), Gaea's Revenge (sb against control), Seismic Elemental (creatures can't block), Zendikar's Roil (absolutely perfect in your deck)...

July 13, 2016 9:46 p.m.

Countermage I tried Tireless Tracker and with little to no clue generators other than him in this deck he was a dead draw for me. Plus having to pay 2 mana each "pump" cracking clues he turns into an unnecessary mana sink if he stays on the board long. At least with Undergrowth Champion he can block most anything other than exile or destruction spells and grows with each land drop that comes into play. If I were running a clue build Tireless Tracker would definitely be in the deck as a 4 of due to the amount of clues that would be generated and cracked consistently. Thanks for the suggestion I may build a U/W/G clue deck in my spare time now to fully put Tireless Tracker to good use lol

Countermage says... #14

You call the clues an unnecesary mana sink but with all the ramp and the fatties your deck lacks card advantage which clues can provide plus the shenanigans with Mina and Denn, Atarka's command etc seems pretty reliable

July 13, 2016 9:53 p.m.

Embodiment of Fury wouldn't work for me as most of my lands are tapped 90% of the time and he would be just a dead draw with trample along with the other embodiment cards. Gaea's Revenge is a good card but when I'm up to 7 or more open lands on the board 99% of the time Omnath, Locus of Rage is safe for me to play. The cost along with it being RR of Seismic Elemental makes it unappealing to me. It's ETB effect is okish but if I'm worried about being blocked I can the majority of the time give my creature/s trample or they already have it to push through damage or I can cripple the blockers with the landfall effect on Retreat to Valakut. Play tested with Zendikar's Roil some time ago and it slowed the game down for me far more than I liked. It's a great card for this deck but just too slow and not a great use of my ramp spells getting it out there early on.

July 13, 2016 9:54 p.m.

You sound angry I didn't agree with your suggestion. I've never had an issue with lacking cards seeing as I hold what I need for later and not playing every card in my hand every turn. I'd rather use my free lands to use Mina's RG trample effect and put a land back into my hand or activate Crater Elemental sac effect in a pinch than use it on a clue. Personal preference for me and I've had no issues playing this way.

Forgive me if I sounded harsh, english is not my first language. I was just giving suggestions. but if the deck works for you it's perfectly fine my me. Sorry again and kudos for your deck :)

Thinking about adding in the 2 Decimator of the Provinces I pulled on pre-release game day. The ramp would get it out fast with its emerge cost easy to utilize with the amount of creatures I have. Making Akoum Stonewaker a first sac option....I will play test this and it could be a new win condition with its +2/+2 trample to all ETB and it having haste on its own. Played out well in my sealed deck so I expect nothing less.

Also been thinking about Eldritch Evolution it seems like a good card.

This deck is fantastic! I would go with only one Decimator of the Provinces because once you get one out, the game is pretty much yours. It gives a ridiculous buff to your creatures, which would already be buffed from all of the lands you would have played to get Decimator in the first place. But to put a second one in might be too much since you don't need another for a temp buff if you get the first one out. I am clearly not as knowledgeable as you or anyone else here in the comments, but from my experience in the prerelease and afterwards, two decimators proves difficult at times to control your deck.

July 19, 2016 1:34 p.m.

The_Grape I'm only adding the one and playtesting with it. As you stated whenever I got it out during pre-release (all 7 wins) it sealed the deal for me and even made one opponent concede. It's a beastly card and lucky I pulled it during the draft lol

A few updates have been made and possibly more in the near future!

Wow, just like a deck I made, but I was playing around with land destruction because with the ramp cards you can really get ahead of your opponent. My other deck I made looks similar to this without all the play testing involved. Wonderful ideas here. (+1 and copy deck because its better than mine). I was playing with some other cards so I thought to mention them here in case you did not consider them:

Akoum Firebird: Great finisher, it is not a huge creature but it is very hard to get rid of due to its landfall ability late game. 3 damage a turn with a flier sounds pretty good to me.
Dragonmaster Outcast: I used as a 1 of because I had it and it needed to be responded to, making opponents use removal on it first and not other important things, and if they didn't kill it, I win by flooding the board with 5/5 fliers.
Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip: When she flips, and she flips very easily, she is wonderful. Great card draw for her +1, extra landfall triggers if its a land, and her other abilities, the -2 and ultimate, produce elementals.
:
Natural Connection: Instant speed landfall triggers, its funny when your combat trick is getting a land on the battlefield. I know you have Atarka's Command, which I love for this but another slot might be helpful and you don't need the land in your hand for it.
:
Oath of Nissa: It seemed very good as a 1 drop, getting a land if you really need one to fix your starting hand, everyone at my store is using it in any green deck even if they have no planeswalkers, but maybe Jaddi Offshoot is better, have not tested him in there.
:

I know it was mentioned before but I have played with these cards so I have to say good stuff about them:

Gaea's Revenge: (check out my deck Simic Mimic, abuses this guy) and if you are able to keep giving trample he is great there. Ramping out to him against control decks is a real finisher for them because they cannot deal with it, although you need to watch out more so for black they have some answers to him compared to the other colors.
Pulse of Murasa: In case of aggro, my store likes aggro this time around, gaining 6 life turn three is very annoying and getting another land back or your chump blocker 0/3 is wonderful as well.

itsbuzzi thanks for stopping by! Before I went all in for the elemental theme I have going on Akoum Firebird was looked at many times and the only reason she didn't make play was because her landfall ability just cost too much for me and my play style (most mana is tapped each turn).

Dragonmaster Outcast I actually bought for this deck and used him for quite some time. Like you said he's either gonna take a few removal spells from our opponent or win the game for us with his tokens. A beautiful card that I ran 3 of just to make the opposition angry with having to remove him or Omnath, Locus of Rage from the board.

Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip is also a great card I wish I owned but she is just too expensive for my liking. She would work great in this deck but I can't seem to let my pockets go for her right now lol Everything in this deck I pulled from packs (except 1 Omnath and 2 Atarka's command).

Oath of Nissa got some thought from me but I feel the turn 1 Jaddi Offshoot was better. He pads my life early on and I keep him alive as long as possible and block wisely with him to make sure my life doesn't drop too far while ramping.

Gaea's Revenge Is great as you said I just never gave it play because by the time I can cast him I'd much rather cast Omnath and put my opponent on a short clock generating 5/5 monstrosities which is easy to do if Mina is on the board to bounce lands back to my hand.

Natural Connection Saw a fair amount of play mainly used defensively to avoid Languish or surprise kills when blocking. It has it's uses I removed it for a reason I can't think of right now lol I believe for Explosive Vegetation .

Pulse of Murasa saw sideboard play for a while and was recently replaced. I've main boarded in Splendid Reclamation since the new sets release and love it so far. Brings back all my fetches (sometimes up to all 6 at once) to the battlefield causing a huge trigger and if played with any of my creatures on the board that could mean lethal. I do miss out on bringing back Jaddi Offshoot or Undergrowth Champion to my hand but it makes up for it big time.

Thanks for the suggestions I'm glad you like the deck!

Very simply put: great minds think alike. I'm sure after some time my deck would have looked like yours after moving cards in and out. As I play at fnm's and start winning money i usually spend it on the deck I used to make it better and easier to win money with, the effects start to snowball the more you play the deck. Sounds like you got most of your stuff through packs, lucky, but once you get money with it just try some upgrades. Do not break the deck for it does work but make it better! Glad to see someone use my locus of rage in a standard deck finally.
