If you're going to run a counter spell in MB, run Dissolve over Negate

I like what you're doing here. +1.

Now I'm considering finding a place for Surrak Dragonclaw in my own Temur deck (Temur Midrange Creatures )--maybe in the sideboard to bring out vs. control decks running counter magic and/or token decks I want to trample over.

+1 I am liking Temur at the moment. I am not sure how you are going to deal with a Stormbreath Dragon or a Mantis Rider with the Sagu Mauler though? Adding some protection against flyers might be worth doing, a creature or two with reach or a big flyer could help. I would suggest putting in Stormbreaths but you have mentioned you are on a budget so maybe something like Arbor Colossus? This is my temur deck Temur Flash I use Prophet of Kruphix to force early advantage in board presence.

Arbor Colossus would really help but I'm not sure where to fit it in. Do you have any ideas Skilgannon?

Maybe have Arbor Colossus in your sideboard instead of the Shipbreaker Kraken then side it in to replace the Avalanche Tusker . Maybe even mainboard the colossus instead of the Tusker. I find the Tusker a bit over cost'd for what it does, although I can see the appeal of forcing a Rabblemaster to block etc. I would also think maybe more than 6 mana dorks if you can fit them in. Help you consistently ramp into the big guys. You will end up drawing a dork later in the game and feeling a bit annoyed, but I like to take that risk to help early board presence.

Stubborn Denial is better in this deck than Dissolve. You're mainly worried about noncreature spells, plus it's only one mana and is a hard counter with Ferocious.

The deck is looking really nice now and other than the lack of fetch and scry lands due to the budget, its looking very strong. I really like the ability to switch to 'counter-burn' post sideboard as well. Reclamation Sage might be a solid consideration against discard decks to keep the cards coming. If Life's Legacy was instant speed I'd suggest that as well, but alas it isn't.

What logical reason to not have the full 4 Frontier Bivouac? outside of not being able to source them i suppose.

I just don't have two more right now. Looking to trade for some.

@komp I only run 3, just because it's a bit slow. Plus with so many lands that enter tapped it's nice to have a few that don't

I understand the reasonable budget thing but Wooded Foothills would really help this deck if you could get them.

Funny you should say that MrCheeseOnToast I just traded for 2 and had just logged on to change them for the Rugged Highlands when I saw this comment.

Like the deck but maybe take out the 2 Dragon Grip and put in 1 more Savage Knuckleblade and 1 Sagu Mauler

February 17, 2015 8:51 p.m.

Naronu says... #24

I've thought about it but in a few games the Heir of the Wilds and Dragon Grip combo has helped me win (the turn 3 4/2 first strike deathtouch becoming 5/3 when it attacks) But I don't know for sure if it is consistent enough.

You are running way to few creatures. There are a lot of successful aggro and mid range deck lists running 26+ creatures. It looks like you are trying to run a control deck without much in the way removal or sweepers. Icy blast belongs in the sideboard (maybe not even there). I would run Boon Satyr 4x main deck all day. You are correct about Savage Knuckleblade he is extremely good against every deck strategy you should run 4 always. Dragon Grip is situation-ally a good card however I think I would rather have Boon Satyr about 90% of the time over dragon's grip. Temur Battle Rage is actually better than dragon grip for combat tricks as it is always an instant, and damage output is consistently 4 to 6 damage when your fatties get blocked and killing the blocking creature not to mention 8 to 12 on unblocked and chump blocks.
