Out of curiosity why is Stratus Walk in your sideboard over other cards like Negate, Stubborn Denial, etc. I'm not saying its bad, I'm saying I don't understand it.

I'm trying to figure out how this legitimately goes infinite. I think you would need 3 Hardened Scales out plus your legendary dragon, AND the sage. Still, cool idea +1

Ajani, Mentor of Heroes uses his +1 to put three counters then Hardened Scales puts one more, then when Dromoka, the Eternal attacks it puts two more on Sage of Hours. Also I just put some cards in sideboard, wasn't really thinking much about it.

What about temporal trespass?

what about adding in an Ordeal of Heliod? it would help you buy some time against aggro decks to combo off

I have been thinking about Ordeal of Heliod but I am not sure what to possible take out or move around to fit it in.

I actually have that in the sideboard I just hadn't updated it yet.

Why not just run Clever Impersonators (copy Siege) and Citadel Siege?

3 Siege's + Sage = infinite turns and it also means you don't have to worry about the bolster from Dromoka going on the wrong creature.

What about citadel siege instead of Dromaka. Its less susceptible to removal

Thank you for saying that! That would work perfectly.

Are you sure about that? Erase, Abzan Advantage, etc. Enchantment Removal is pretty hard.

Noix11 says... #13

I will try them both to see what seems to work better.

I don't see Advantage seeing atandard play, seeing hexproof/shroud enchantments aren't a thing and sure, erase is a thing, but people are playing 1-2 at most. No matter how this deck is built it's going to be weak to removal, based on what it is trying to accomplish. Why not just say it won't work b/c Downfall is in the format :)? The Impersonators make it so there is a lot of redundancy and therefore it is more consistent.

I mean it could be built as just counterspell.dek, but I don't think that's the aim of Noix is trying to make.

Niox, good luck with it man. I'll be following this deck closely :)

Sandsteppe Mastodon. If you can come up with a way to bounce/flicker him every turn, you go infinite.

Noix11 says... #17

Sandsteppe Mastodon is just to high of a drop to be reliable in this deck, plus the bolster could possibly go on a different creature on accident.

January 22, 2015 12:04 a.m.

I don't think you get it, sage will be 1 toughness. Nothing is lower than 1 toughness in this game. If you have flickering, you get infinite turns.

I think that meant if Hours had a few counters already, which might put Caryatid or Pilgrim below it. Which mainly means you'd want to hold it in hand. That only gives you 1 turn though, which is shy of infinity.

I'm not a big fan of the Ordeals. Attacking with the Sage is dangerous to your combo. I'd drop them for Gods Willing and Dig or something. Or something that gives you a token or deals 1 damage every turn.

The ordeals, in playtest, have been giving enough extra turns to get something like hardened scales, siege, dragon out. Seems really fun. Well done.

maybe just pull out one of each ordeal that you already have in there? 3 Ordeal of Thassa, 3 Ordeal of Nylea and 2 Ordeal of Heliod. or something like that, you can play around with the numbers to your liking

K1LROY I was actually thinking about doing that. I will try it out tomorrow at fnm.

Solidarity of Heroes is startlingly good with Hardened Scales With 1 scales out, targeting Sage of Hours with it will immediately put on 5 counters, and there is plenty of potential to get even more turns out of that deal. Plus, putting a ton of counters on a dude at instant speed is a very solid combat trick that is made much better with Hardened Scales

I agree with what cheesecyborg said; Solidarity of Heroes does wonders in that kind of deck.

You may want to take a look at my Scaled Heroes and Squids of TIME, which you could easily improve if you have the budget for Ajani and fetchlands!

+1

So I tried the Ordeal of Heliod and that worked very well. It actually saved me a couple of times. I also made the change of putting Elvish Mystic in instead of Gods Willing just for the ramp. I like the Solidarity of Heroes but I am unsure what to take out for it.
