Piloting the Deck

OK, So the early game needs work and I am not 100% sold on this strategy but early play testing looks promising.

Turns 1-3:Ideally drop a Swamp or Blood Crypt get the hand disruption going with Raven's Crime , Inquisition of Kozilek or Thoughtseize. You really want to see a Ghost Quarter as well to get the game control going.

By turn 3 you would ideally have a Life from the Loam or Groundskeeper and a Crucible of Worlds or Azusa, Lost but Seeking (All 3 by turn 4) on the board. That's when the fun starts.

Just recylce Ghost Quarter for your 3 land drops each turn, to aid in locking your opponent out of the game (Oh what do you mean you need lands to play magic?!?). From there you will cycle through the various lands and what not to beat you foes' face into oblivion. See card accordians for options

If you can draw into The Gitrog Monster early on and get him active with each land that hits the GY nets you a draw and more fodder for either Ghirapur AEther Grid and/or Molten Vortex

Granted this may be hindered by Ensnaring Bridge But your opponent won't know whether or not to lift the bridge or just keeping taking it straight in the face

This card is multi purpose, mana? Check. Makes a flying creature? Check. Artifact for grid if you've locked things down with bridge? Chiggity check..

But Mom, I love him! He's sooo cute, can we keep him??

The little dudes can also serve as chump block, fodder, or smaller combatants early on.

Sideboard/Other thoughts

Help needed on SB, as you can see I haven't one.

Also there is some serious inconsistencies in the early game that I can't seem to work out. That's where the introduction of Dark Confidant occurred, though I am not sure about Bob (What about Bob?) As Getting hit for 5 on the monster can be a game ender!! In online play-testing once the engine is active all my opponents basically just rage-quit.

Having 4-of the important engine peices just ensure recurrence despite potential removal.

I see a nice interaction between The Gitrog Monster+Life from the Loam w/ any land hitting the GY gives you the potential to dredge loam at instant speed without taking up any additional card slots for draw.
