Using tortured existence and the dredge mechanic to make a golgari toolbox deck.
If you have Golgari Brownscale + Golgari Brownscale
you can gain 2 life for every black you spend by switching their places in you hand and graveyard.
Undead Servant
is an experimental pick, we just want to throw three in the yard then play it for 4 get 9 power then ideally we can search for Kaya’s Ghostform (represented by the plains) with
Vessel of Nascency
or
Commune with the Gods
sacrifice the servant to
Carrion Feeder
and get an additional 3 zombie tokens.
In our sideboards anti boggle slot we would normally run
Chainer's Edict
but dredging away your answer with no means to recur it other than it’s high flashback cost is pretty depressing so instead we’re gonna slap our edict effect on a stick which gives us a choice between
Abyssal Gatekeeper
and
Slum Reaper
I personally think Gatekeeper is better in this deck since we wanna conserve as much mana as possible to do tortured shenanigans.
Speaking of Tortured Shenanigans having lots of mana is useful for that so you could run some more
Viridian Emissary
maybe even add in
Primal Druid
if you’re feeling really over zealous then with all of the lands in your deck in play you could get some real mileage out of a Dripping-Tongue Zubera + Grave Scrabbler
combo
In the event that you find yourself unable to answer your opponents threats or develop your game plan then just stop playing dredge and start playing turbo fog.
Atog
is scary and you can’t find your
Caustic Caterpillar
in time to destroy his
Great Furnace
? Just play turbo fog. Who cares if Atog gets in for 18 when you’re gaining 8 life every turn? Can’t keep up with the card advantage of Kuldrotha Boros? Just play turbo fog eventually they’ll just draw themselves out while you and
Spore Frog
cuddle in the distance. Playing against a mill deck and like you have
Battlefield Scrounger
but like then you would have to activate his ability and then you would have to reach all the way to your graveyard pick three cards and then move them all the way back to the library, just play turbofog. Everyone knows that your life total is a score for how well you’re doing, getting milled out with 100 life is basically the same thing as winning the game.
Now you might be saying “But Mr TheLocust you make this turbofog strategy seem unbeatable surely there must be some weakness or bad matchup for us!” And you would be right, you see unlike Yugioh players magic players actually posses some modicum of self respect so once our opponent realizes we’ve switched into turbo fog mode they will likely scoop which is their way of saying “You are scum and I’m not gonna waste my time playing with you.” This will hurt our feelings and even though spore frog can protect us from combat the emotional damage will still bring us the real L.
