Finally its time for fire to rise. Burn is back my friends and its not as good as back in the day, but it works surprisingly well now with the introduction of Incendiary Flow and Collective Defiance
The Queen:
Chandra, Flamecaller
This is a good card to close out the game, if they are not dead on turn 6 they will be after her, and getting her out turn 4 with
Vessel of Volatility
is just mean.
The King:
Embermaw Hellion
This card is super important for the late game, it just makes all your burn even better, and sometimes making that
Exquisite Firecraft
deal 5 instead of 4 damage is the differance between a won game, and a lost game.
Creatures:
Chandra, Roaring Flame
this card is alot like Thermo-Alchemist in its function, but the trick to getting her to flip easily is actually to attack with her. After you declare the attack, you cast your spell and remove a blocker or deal more damage to their face. Then after combat is done, tap her one more time and she will have delt 3dmg this turn.
Impetuous Devils
its 4 mana for 6 dmg or less and u get rid of a creature? that makes sense to me.
Thermo-Alchemist:Sort of a shoe in, if it dies to removal okay, but if it dosent it can deal alot of damage, and late game when you get
Embermaw Hellion
out it deals 2 damage per tap, and that can just flat out win u the game there.
Utility:
Vessel of Volatility
+Pyromancer's Goggles are op. You can get them out on turn 3 which alone might win you the game. Its also not quite a dead card late, due to its ability to pump up a the killing blow. also allows a doubble tap on our creatures when we cast a spell with it.
STRENGTHS:Oh wow we have alot of burn. Most decks revolve around creatures but not us, we are all about the spells. I shouldnt have to say why this is awesome with all the removal in standard at the moment, But i will anyways. Because we run so few creatures 1/3 of most decks are just unable to handle us because we dont have a board presance for them to destroy, making alot of "Dead Cards" in their decks. So most of the time, half of their hands are useless!
WEAKNESS:Negate, Turn Aside,
Invasive Surgery
. Control is our weakness, and thats also why we cant run just 40 burn spells right now, when we go into game 2 people will empty out all of the removal they can take to negate our damage, and thats when we gotta switch things up on them with our sideboard.
SIDEBOARD:
Rending Volley
is a must with all the spirits and control decks going around, also not bad when playing vs Humans
Kozilek's Return
is just for G/W tokens and Bant Company decks.
Tears of Valukut is for spirits, just another uncounterable spell they have to take
