Have you thought about running at least one Plains, Island, Swamp, Mountain, and Forest and maybe Evolving Wilds and Terramorphic Expanse? This deck seems really bad against Blood Moon, Back to Basics, and Collective Voyage

Thanks for your feedback. I am currently not running basic lands, if the cards you mention show up in my meta I will put them back in. It's hard to decide what to replace in the mana base though.

Thank you for that suggestions, I will add it to the honourable mentions list.

I always enjoy a Dragon deck.

Scion was my first deck (Commander or othrwise) and still my favorite. One of the 'tricks' I am working towards in my deck (budget, budget....) is running Conspiracy which allows me to play anything as a Dragon.

I'm trying to find Enlightened Tutor, Idyllic Tutor for fetching Conspiracy and Blightsteel Colossus as a game ender.

When Blightsteel Colossus 'dies' it instead goes back to my library. As long as I'm able to keep two mana open Scion is fairly indestructible. (Exile effects still remove Scion, but if I'm able to keep Dragonlord Silumgar in my library I can ward that off.)

I also run Phage The Untouchable. (Phage never enters the battlefield. Scion merely becomes a copy and Phage goes directly to my graveyard.)

Glad you like it. I take no credit for it, the person who taught me Magic is a guru for such things.

Awesome deck, do you find you ever have problems with mass artifact removal putting almost all of your ramp eggs in one basket?

For the Savage Ventmaw + Aggravated Assault combo, I think you have to search before you declare attackers to get the mana.

VGAMaddHatter: Thank you very much, I'd very much appreciate an upvote so this take on Scion gets out there.

The description is a work in progress, I am trying to find the time to write it properly. You are correct that Savage Ventmaw has to be tutored before attacking. Turns out I do not need to play this combo in my current meta anyway. I have also dropped All Suns' Dawn since the Conflux combo is good enough and can be paired off with Yawgmoth's Will if needed.

Regarding your question about mana rock protection: it is true that an overloaded Vandalsblast would set me back, but I discovered that because of the sheer number of mass removal in this deck, if this happens, there are still no threats on the table. There are multiple ways a player who played that can be punished: killing him off with infect, sacing Yosei and tapping him out or Nicol Bolas. Do you have any suggestions yourself on how to protect the artifacts?

Interesting deck, and hopefully quite successful. I profess I am a fan because I like Dragons, but I've never gone with Scion of the Ur-Dragon because I'd rather not build combo out of Dragon Tribal. There isn't honestly much that I can suggest for this deck--all of the right elements are already here as far as I can tell. I might draw your attention to Scalelord Reckoner as a protection card, though. It's fairly new (having just come out in C17) and is a strong deterrant for targeting your Dragons. If Silumgar is already in your grave, you can use Reckoner for revenge on a spot removal spell or ability.

@StigIt2me Hi, thanks for the comment. I am aware of the Scalelord Reckoner, somehow my meta has given up on trying to kill Scion since the spell either fizzles or they get punished by Yosei, the Morning Star. I might add Dragonlord Ojutai if I need more protection, though cards like Quicksilver Dragon and Scalelord Reckoner lead to hilarious effects. If you have time, please read through the summary section mentioning possible cuts and exclusions and let me know what you think. Thanks!

I agree with Sarkhan being taken out. Hell, in my Ur-Dragon deck he sticks around because he can make a token, but that's just a difference in the interests of our decks. I like your ideas for what to replace him with. Have you considered Dragon Mage, though? It might be a repeatable wheel like Whispering Madness, and you can use Scion to fetch it. IMO, they're comparable effects and if you can get through unblocked to get the ciphered Whispering Madness off, you can get through unblocked to get Dragon Mage's effect.

Both Chrome Mox and Phyrexian Tower seem too costly to use to me. How likely are you to have a throwaway creature for the Tower or a throwaway card in the necessary colors for Chrome Mox, you know? Mana Confluence might make for a more reasonable replacement, though it always costs 1 life to tap it unless you give it another tap effect. Since you're not afraid to have a land that can only generate colored mana for Dragons (Cavern of Souls and Haven of the Spirit Dragon in particular), you could also run a copy of Path of Ancestry.

Twilight's Call instead of Past in Flames, yes. Do that.

I see what you mean with Utvara Hellkite. I don't see why you'd replace it with Entomb, though. Maybe bring in Balefire Dragon from your Maybeboard? I think that Balefire might more sufficiently fill that card slot.
