EDH Hydra Tribal Deck with Ramos, Dragon Engine as primary commander. Though technically a WUBRG in nature, in practice it plays much more like a Selesnya deck with minor splashes of the other three colors for situational support. As such the mana-curve is very much geared toward generating primarily green and white mana, (as well as lots and lots of colorless for pumping up those X casting costs which the deck is built around.)

This deck is all about utility, being able to adapt on the fly to sudden changes in the board state, while building up massive creatures to go pound face. Able to go big, or wide (or both) and capable of explosive turns it can quickly overpower unprepared opponents, and has shown the ability to hold it's own against even higher tier decks. It should be noted however that this is not a tier one build by any stretch of the imagination, and is very much meant for casual EDH play. I made this to satisfy my inner Timmy.

The deck has multiple win conditions with the primary being a Voltron build with big trampling creatures bolstered by +1/+1 counter abilities, namely the hydras such as Managorger Hydra, Primordial Hydra, Hydra Broodmaster, Heroes' Bane, etc. Really any of them will do. Also fun to pump up are our new friends Carnage Tyrant and Ghalta, Primal Hunger.

For early play: Managorger Hydra, Primordial Hydra and Scute Mob get really big, really quickly, and as such will draw a lot of hate and removal as soon as they hit the board, especially if cast in the first or second turn. If left unchecked they are fully capable of winning games by themselves. One quirk I've found with these creatures in particular is that unless they are protected with something like Lightning Greaves they won't survive a full turn rotation. This is perfectly fine though, as with cards like Death's Presence, Nissa, Vital Force, and Sigil of the New Dawn you can still take full advantage of the +1/+1 Counters they produce and then simply recast them, while your opponents will be down a removal spell. They are cheap enough to act as bait for the hate, yet still powerful enough to be viable threats in mid to late game. On the other side of the removal/counterspell coin, Carnage Tyrant, Mistcutter Hydra and any card cast with Savage Summoning are much harder to stop, especially against decks that rely heavily on Blue for control. The Carnie in particular laughs at any most any attempt to kill him short of a full board wipe.

Gyrus, Waker of Corpses is a powerful addition from the new C18 release. Able to recur any of the Hydras in deck, but having a particularly powerful combo with Kalonian Hydra and Heroes' Bane.

Daghatar the Adamant + Protean Hydra = Virtually unlimited source of +1/+1 counters spread around the board as long as there is mana available.

Powering up swarms of smaller creatures is also a viable win tactic. Cathars' Crusade + Secure the Wastes can win games out of no where, with a big swarm of beefy soldiers hitting the field at instant speed. Similarly token swarms produced by Hooded Hydra and Hydra Broodmaster can be quite nasty.

Supportwise, all it takes is a single +1/+1 token to give any creature a whole range of abilities. See cards like Rishkar, Peema Renegade and Tuskguard Captain for added fun.

Notable synergies:

Heroes' Bane, Managorger Hydra, and/or Primordial Hydra + Solidarity of Heroes = Makes the big mean hydras double in size. The paupers Doubling Season.

Fungal Behemoth can get ridiculously big with the likes of Kalonian Hydra and Renegade Krasis on the field.

The utility of Corpsejack Menace + Daghatar the Adamant should not be underestimated. The ability to move around +1/+1 tokens from creature to creature at instant speed and get double your investment can be a big help in adapting to the changing field. Power-up hidden threats like Treetop Village and Stirring Wildwood as well as token swarms from Secure the Wastes and Hooded Hydra.

Planeswalkers:

Ajani Unyielding

Ajani fits well with the theme of this deck, helps with spot removal and if you can get his Ultimate off your opponents are going to be in for a world of hurt.

Nissa, Voice of Zendikar and Vivien of the Arkbow are both +1/+1 counter producers, with Nissa VoZ providing targets for the counters as well as draw support with her ultimate, while Vivien adds a nice targeted creature removal.

Played a Commander game at the FLGS and through an interaction that can borderlined on ludicrous, the deck demonstrated just how massive a creature can get in short order.

Long story short, the new record for largest creature produced by this deck in a single turn is a 49,192/49,192 Corpsejack Menace

Hydra Broodmaster with Death's Presence and a Corpsejack Menace on the field with a sac outlet can produce some absurd results. That was one big mushroom.
