This was very helpful in helping me build my own version. I play mainly draft, but am looking to break into standard without spending much, and I think mono-blue [Ensoul Artifact] is the way to do it. Have a look if you're interested (I built my list with no RTR/M14 cards): http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/big-scary-flyers/
As an aside, I once had the chance to play a guy who drafted a bunch of [Ensoul Artifact]s. [Illusory Angel]s, [Quickling]s, [Scrapyard Mongrel]s, and [Meteorite]s. The only reason I beat him was because I was playing [Flesh to Dust], [Devouring Light], and [Triplicate Spirits]. In other words, the worst possible matchup.

I just went to top 8 at Game Day, as well as FNM last week. I splashed red for mine, since my area's meta is really control heavy. Shrapnel blasts just give you that extra reach against control. Plus, Circle of Flame against mono white weenie and any RDW just stops them cold. Despite all this, I believe this deck's weakest match-up is still control. Control has just too many answers. You either need to completely stomp them game 1, and then side in your counterspells/shrapnels. Do the same again, and hope you draw in a Shrapnel blast before they rev. It's not as easy, since post-sideboard they will run more answers. A resolved Archangel of Thune, and letting her deal damage is game-ending!

I can see this deck becoming VERY good post-rotation (as well as now), with things that would give this deck problems like the U/W/x Control decks. Very nice job. This is absolutely awesome. +1 from me.

I've been playing this deck, well almost identical. I run a different board to fit my store but for the most part don't use it. I have gone 10-1 and 10-0 the last couple weeks.
Have you come across fast aggro? I think I've been lucky not playing against those, but I feel they have the upper hand.
In playtesting the super fast mono-red rabble decks win 4/5 times. Also, I have a hard time with mono-black aggro with its big beefy flyers and removal suite.

@Buhchau yes aggro decks are the worst for this deck. Most of the cards in the sideboard are for that matchup. 4x Frostburn Weird really puts in work. Tidebinder Mage is good for that Rabblemaster. AEtherspouts can be a blowout win against aggro too. it is still a hard matchup, however,

For RDW I would actually add some counter spells like Dissolve or Dissipate . If they try to chain burning trees you can just counter it and spoil their fun. Or if they try to fanatic you you can just counter it Tidebinder Mage really helps!

Sorry for double post, but what kind of hands would you keep on the play/draw and what hands would you mulligan? Just got this deck and I can't wait to try it.

Sorry for double post, but wouldn't you play Triton Shorestalker over Galerider Sliver ? I know he hurts the flavor a bit cause he's not flying, but even opponents fliers can't block him.

Tidebinder Mage
is great out of the sideboard. Wall of Frost
might be good. but have found Frostburn Weird
to be the better choice for aggro matchups. Triton Shorestalker
is great too, but the Galerider Sliver
is here to give Mutavault
flying, as previously discussed in the comments.
thanks for the +1's and comments. this deck has been updated for post rotation. check it out!

Elusive Spellfist maybe? When casting a spell he gets unblockable. And he's pretty cheap with a fairly high toughness.

Hmmm maybe a few Memnite's might do good in there, and also maybe some Phantasmal Bear.

Id look at changing some things around. Hangerback, the flash flyer that buffs flyers, the cmc3 guy that brings a Thopter and the Spynetwork. All good cards and if you favour the flyers over the unblockeble guys you could really do som crazy stuff. Add the new Instant speed Divination and the old big hitters and fast mana and I think this might be a really good swarm deck with good thempo options and som big hard hitters.

I was thinking, maybe replace 4 creatures or the 3 Hour of Need with 3-4 Descent of the Dragons, then replace 4 Island with Swiftwater Cliffs or Shivan Reef to add some more power to it. Thoughts?

How about replacing 4 Void Snare with Clutch of Currents? Just an idea! +1 great deck!

I played this at a game day event here in Taiwan yesterday and went 2-0 in 3 out of 5 rounds, losing only to the two match ups against the G/W aggro Top 8 deck that like 8 out of the 21 people were playing. I wrecked everyone else, and this is all without mutavaults and galerider slivers. +1 from me! Such a fun deck. Going to borrow those missing pieces and try to sideboard better today for day two. My only comment would be that Thassa never seemed to work great for me. I also side boarded a nightveil spectre and that paid off in spades when I came up against the slightly beefier cousin of this deck with the illusory angels.
