hey lemmingllama I have been playin Mirari in my narset edh deck, and it does alright. I find I am using it to copy win conditions a lot though, so it copies stuff like Savage Beating and I found it doesn't get hated off as much as you might think, and my friends play a lot of removal. All though, I agree, it might not be the best in your deck.

@MirranTitan I actually threw it into my deck last night so I can test it. So we'll see how it's going.

To be honest, I'm not sure that Banefire is better than any of your other X burns (except maybe Fireball), but it is definitely one you want in the 99. People might not prevent damage a lot, or counter spells too often, but when you come in with an angry Banefire for 40, I think they will have no reasonable response other than to pack up their cards for the match.

@kameenook I did run Banefire at one point, but I've slowly been moving away from my end-game being only fireballs. I only have four of them left (Mindswipe, Comet Storm, Bonfire of the Damned, and Devil's Play) and each of the ones I've selected either have a secondary function that makes them useful when I'm not killing people (like Mindswipe) or can kill multiple people (like Comet Storm). I typically don't run into the issue of casting a fireball into a counterspell, if I'm going for the kill then I'll make sure I can actually get through.
Thanks for the suggestion though!

@TheAlexGnan Actually, the reason why I am using Phyrexian Metamorph and Clever Impersonator is because I can copy a mana doubler. Clone is cool, but it can only copy creatures. I actually cut Dack's Duplicate from this list because creatures are fairly irrelevant. Thanks for the suggestion and +1 though!
Also I'd rather just build 4-6 EDH decks than spend $2000 or more on a single deck. I have no intention of spending that much on EDH, it's normally better to have fun.

Sweet deck you have there, this deserves a +1. I have one tiny suggestion for you. Doubling Cube is a wonderful magic-card and for all of the fireball effects or crazy double Doubling Cube + Turnabout where you cast like your whole deck.
Myself have not played with it but a friend of mine did the combo I mentioned. That led to a pretty chaotic turn...

@insane4life The issue with Doubling Cube is that it costs too much mana in a single turn. I'd rather just get a mana doubler online and have a good time with that. That being said, Candelabra of Tawnos is the good version of Doubling Cube that I would add, but it also has a hefty price tag.

Firemind's Foresight fetches a three-card infinite combo with Lightning Bolt, Reset, and Reiterate. You do the combo by casting Reset on opponen't upkeep, Reiterate that with buyback, let copy resolve, get infinite mana that way, and do the same with Bolt and Reiterate.

@ShadooLuigi I'm actually doing my best to avoid running infinite combos. Reiterate was already removed from the deck because of how it went infinite with Turnabout. I may have to look at getting a copy of Reset though, it looks like a good standalone card.

@lemmingllama I don't like infinite combos either, but I run that one because if needed, I can end a really long going game.

@ShadooLuigi Still, infinites are just a boring way to end a game. I'd rather just run cards that help me finish the game, instead of some cards that only end the game if I get all of them at once.

I would recommend putting in Pyromancer's Goggles because it works with cards like Mana Geyser way too well.

@godofcruelty I've been considering putting it in, probably over Ral Zarek. Just need to acquire a copy.

trust me...I have Pyromancer's Goggles in my melek deck...and if you like being able to make 3 copies of a Fireball for massive board damage from casting it off the top of your deck...put it in now xD

@gamerboy12k I've decided to add it, the issue is just getting a copy. I trade for my cards, so I need to find someone who has a copy for trade and wants my things. So soon enough!

also have you thought about Howl of the Horde, after attacking with something then casting it off the top of your library...that is a bloody ton of copies xD
August 4, 2015 10:16 a.m.
lemmingllama says... #18
@gamerboy12k The issue with Howl of the Horde is that it is at sorcery speed, can only copy my own spells, and I need a creature who can attack without dying to make it decent. I've considered it, but it isn't strong enough to be worthwhile.

I keep seeing mention of a fireball combo but see no fireball in this deck. Was it recently swapped for something else?

lemmingllama says... #20
@Codex-88 I removed Fireball a while back because it wasn't powerful enough. I am now using Comet Storm, Bonfire of the Damned, Devil's Play, and somewhat Blue Sun's Zenith with enough mana. Typically fireballs are any burn spells with an in their cost

@kendanc Normally it's more valuable to have spells in a Melek deck than creatures. If I wanted to add another copy effect, it would probably be Fork. Thanks for the suggestion though

@shaistyone Galvanoth is good, but it also requires me to want to cast those spells immediately. For this deck, sequencing your spells can become very important. Galvanoth just doesn't add enough towards the primary gameplan that he could replace other creatures in here.

Have you considered running Merchant Scroll, Propaganda and/or Intuition?
lemmingllama says... #1
I've been thinking about trying out Mirari again instead of Sphinx-Bone Wand, since both are just silly overcosted win more artifacts. I might need to try it out.
Also for things like Mirari, they normally only happen once. Look for the "whenever", since it normally indicates a triggered ability that will only trigger once per event.
