Yet another werewolf deck, right? Being the huge fan of lycanthropes in general, there was no way I wouldn't build an Ulrich of the Krallenhorde   deck when presented the opportunity. But I'm also a realist. I know werewolves, on the whole, are a weaker tribe. The flip mechanic isn't easy to work with and it's easily manipulated by your opponents, especially in multi-payer games. So instead of focusing on the flip mechanic as the basis of the deck, I decided to look at other ways to utilize the were's and wolf-themed cards and use the flip as a finisher if need be.

One thing the wolves do well is attack and deal damage. That had to be the focus of any Ulrich deck. Add in the fact that there are so many wolf token generators to choose from and the ability of wolves and werewolves to utilize some of the same pumps and bonuses, it only made sense to include cards like Master of the Wild Hunt, Howlpack Alpha, Cult of the Waxing Moon, Sword of Body and Mind (over Neglected Heirloom  ), and a few others. In the end I decided against a staple like Silverfur Partisan because of the lack of targeting cards in my own library. I didn't want to depend on my opponent to generate wolf tokens for me.

I also included a slightly out of the ordinary ramp package in Traverse the Ulvenwald, Oracle of Mul Daya, Sword of the Animist, Somberwald Sage, Borderland Ranger, and Shaman of Forgotten Ways (who also can be used as a late-game finisher with his Formidable ability). I decided against staples like Cultivate and Explosive Vegetation simply because they're dead cards late game, and I didn't want to have to depend on the early ramp/kill strategy every time out. Each of the cards I have in this deck for ramping can be utilized for some other purpose in later rounds.

You'll notice the deck is mostly basic lands. I do so love a Blood Moon (thematically and in-game). There are some decks out there that don't run non-basic lands, but they're few and far between. The Blood Moon, Magus of the Moon, and Ruination deal with troublesome Coffers, fetches, and other annoyances. Plus, it's the freaking Blood Moon. How cool is that?

The rest of the deck, I'd like to think, speaks for itself. Let me know if you have any suggestions or questions regarding my choices and/or strategies.
