A Sliver deck built around
Sliver Overlord
, like most other decks, due to its powerful ability to tutor any sliver for 3. I've included cards like
Training Grounds
and
Biomancer's Familiar
to make it possible for a 1-mana tutor. I built this with efficiency in mind, often using the slivers with the cheapest converted mana cost for their respective abilities to hopefully close out the win early on. I've also added a bit of enchantment ramp, like
Burgeoning
and
Exploration
. I've also added a few creatures that help with ramp and general protection, like
Amoeboid Changeling
,
Morophon, the Boundless
(who both count as slivers),
Gemhide Sliver
,
Manaweft Sliver
, and
Birds of Paradise
. I've also included all of the Legendary Slivers, who can be put out for free with Morophon. They provide immense advantages, especially
The First Sliver
's cascade ability and
Sliver Queen
's tokens. I also tried to make an efficient land base, using shock and dual lands, as well as the usual utility lands and lands that tap for >1, like
Gaea's Cradle
,
Ancient Tomb
, etc. I incorporated some lands that can tap for any color, which is a necessity in this type of deck. I'm currently experimenting with
Glimmervoid
, but it may be too much of a liability to include with the number of artifacts the deck is currently running. We also have most of the EDH staple spells, i.e.
Force of Will
,
Swords to Plowshares
,
Cyclonic Rift
, and others in that vein. I also know that you can't have a sideboard in commander, so I am using it as a place for powerful contenders to live. They are more viable options than the cards in the Maybeboard, so I'd probably modify the deck with these before moving to the cards in the Maybeboard. This is my first commander deck, so it may not work as well as I intend, so please help me out with certain aspects if you have the time. I'm gradually trying to make this deck more competitive, so if you have any card suggestions (especially on lands), please leave them in the comments. Also, if you wouldn't mind pointing out weaker cards that I could swap for, please do. Thanks in advance!
Some combos (I will be adding more combos to this list over time.)(Remember to use counter magic accordingly.):
The Meme Combo (Flavorful WinCon):
Hopefully, you have
Reliquary Tower
out and a bunch of cards in hand, preferably counterspells to protect this combo. I am sorry in advance for any errors made in this explanation, please correct me if you notice anything wrong.
-
First, you want
Sliver Overlord
on the field for her two abilities. You will also want either
Training Grounds
or
Biomancer's Familiar
on the field.
-
In your first main phase, use
Sliver Overlord
to search for any missing slivers in the combo, being
Amoeboid Changeling
,
Scuttling Sliver
,
Gemhide Sliver
/
Manaweft Sliver
,
Basal Sliver
,
Heart Sliver
/
Cloudshredder Sliver
, and, most importantly,
Sliver Queen
. It would not hurt to search for
Morophon, the Boundless
to quickly get everything out, but he is not essential. The same goes for
Sliver Legion
with pumping up your creatures. You will need an excess of mana or ramp to pull this off. If none of these are out, the total cost (for tutoring and casting) will end up being 36 mana, including
Morophon, the Boundless
. With
Morophon, the Boundless
out already, the cost will go down to 13 mana, tutoring included.
-
You will want to play your slivers in this order (I'm excluding Morophon from this):
a)
Heart Sliver
/
Cloudshredder Sliver
b)
Manaweft Sliver
/
Gemhide Sliver
c)
Basal Sliver
d)
Sliver Queen
e)
Scuttling Sliver
f)
Amoeboid Changeling
g)
Sliver Legion
-
You need one mana to get this started. Since all of your slivers have haste due to
Heart Sliver
or
Cloudshredder Sliver
, they can tap as soon as they enter the battlefield. Add one mana to your pool and use it to create a token from
Sliver Queen
, the cost being reduced thanks to
Training Grounds
or
Biomancer's Familiar
.
-
Tap the token for mana, having been granted the ability from either
Gemhide Sliver
or
Manaweft Sliver
.
-
After floating this 1, sacrifice the token to
Basal Sliver
, adding . You currently have 3 more mana floating.
-
Use this mana to create 3 more tokens.
-
Repeat steps 5-7 infinitely, granting you access to infinite mana. Now comes the fun part. (I think you see where this is going.)
-
Tap
Amoeboid Changeling
to turn one of your opponent's creatures into a sliver with its first ability.
-
Then, use
Scuttling Sliver
's ability, (cost reduced thanks to
Training Grounds
or
Biomancer's Familiar
,) on
Amoeboid Changeling
, untapping it.
-
Repeat steps 9 & 10 until all of your opponents' creatures are slivers.
-
After all creatures on the board are slivers, use
Sliver Overlord
's second ability to gain control of every creature on the board.
-
Swing in for the win, with your slivers being buffed massively from
Sliver Legion
.
This combo is probably used in most sliver EDH decks but I have not seen it specifically mentioned yet. Thanks for sitting through all of that and if you think I made an error in this, I probably did, so, if you can, please tell me so that I can fix it.
Infinite ETB Triggers:
This is a super simple combo for infinite enter the battle triggers, only requiring 2 pieces and 2 mana of any color. This would let you deal infinite damage and gain infinite life with
Lavabelly Sliver
or blow up any amount of artifacts/enchantments with
Harmonic Sliver
.
-
Using
Sliver Overlord
, tutor for
Sliver Queen
and
Basal Sliver
if you do not already have them.
-
Play
Sliver Queen
and
Basal Sliver
if you don't already have one or both of them on the field.
-
Tap
Sol Ring
,
Mana Crypt
, or any other source(s) that will provide 2 mana.
-
Sink your mana into
Sliver Queen
's ability, making a 1/1 Sliver token and having it enter the battlefield.
-
Immediately sacrifice the token to
Basal Sliver
for .
-
Using
Sliver Queen
, create another token with the from
Basal Sliver
.
-
Repeat the process outlined in steps 5-6 indefinitely, creating and sacrificing infinite 1/1 Slivers.
Play Out the Entire Brood:
-
If you do not already have it, use a tutor to find
Mana Echoes
.
-
If they are not already out, play
Sliver Overlord
.
-
By any means necessary, get three slivers onto the board, including
Sliver Overlord
.
-
Use the mana from
Mana Echoes
and any mana already available to find
Morophon, the Boundless
, if you do not already have them.
-
Play
Morophon, the Boundless
, generating three mana from
Mana Echoes
.
-
Use the mana on
Sliver Overlord
's first ability, finding any sliver that costs , or a sliver with a converted mana cost of 2 made up of two different colors; for example:
Cloudshredder Sliver
.
The First Sliver
is the optimal choice, as it will give you cascade triggers when slivers enter the battlefield.
-
Play the sliver you tutored for for free utilizing
Morophon, the Boundless
's ability.
Mana Echoes
will trigger once again, giving you mana equivalent to how many slivers you control.
-
Repeat steps six and seven until there are no slivers left in your deck. Ignore the bit about slivers costing , slivers without generic mana in their casting cost, and
The First Sliver
in step six, and move on to slivers with generic mana in their casting cost, as you should have enough mana from
Mana Echoes
to support that.
