Sideboard


This is a Delver list I'm looking into. I didn't like the RUG list that this was because of the literally 0 card draw it felt like I had. This list fixes that.

Mainboard Options:
Delver of Secrets - Namesake. This card allows the number of instants to come into play and just wreck face
Spellstutter Sprite - 1/1 Flying Flash for 2 that can counter?! Sign me up. A common misconception is this card is bad without Bitterblossom, but that cannot be further from the truth. Saves my other creatures or face from Lightning Bolt, Path to Exile, etc
Wydwen, the Biting Gale - Here's where I'm a little different. I like Wydwen because she's tutor-able with Mystical Teachings, she's out of Consume the Meek range, and she can bounce herself for safety. Also she's a faerie for Spellstutter Sprite
Azorius Charm - Best charm. Cycles at worst, saves your life with either the bounce or lifelink at best.
Esper Charm - Card Draw. Has some other useful modes, but using one card to draw two is never bad. The other modes are what put this ahead of Think Twice
Dimir Charm - Situational, but it can prove it's usefulness. It's my 61st card.
Mystical Teachings - Not often in a deck with Delver as they normally are for two different decks. That much being said, it allows Delver to stay relevant for the long haul and lets us run a toolbox of answers in the main and side safely. I like 2-3 of. 4 is possible, but I think if you want to run 4 you should run the Teachings deck, not a Delver deck.
Disfigure - Good for the early game. Quick removal for those pesky Goblin Guide, Delver of Secret, etc.
Doom Blade Go for the Throat Ultimate Price Smother - These cards are clumped because the do the same job: kill something for 2 mana. However in my experience if you only run one of the 4, you'll only get matchups in which it is dead. Teachings let us run one of each safely. you can run replacements in the sideboard for your meta.
Geth's Verdict - Geist of Saint Traft, Siege Rhino, and Infect are real things. Get rid of them. Devour Flesh also works, but I like Verdict more with 2-color lands
Mana Leak - I was going to run Rune Snag, but I cut a counterspell which means Mana Leak is better. If you don't run Dimir Charm I'd sugget the Snags. It's 6 of one, half a dozen of the other really.
Path to Exile - For when something needs to not exist any more. It allows our removal to go from decent to good.
Blue Sun's Zenith - Deck wants something to do if we go late, and card draw is nice. Sphinx's Revelation is better for this deck, but Blue Sun's Zenith costs lest USD
White Sun's Zenith - Alternative finisher. Can be cast for one or two as well in the early game EoT if you have nothing else to do.
Consume the Meek - Clears the board. Sadly kills our creatures so use it only if you are behind in board state.Sideboard Options:
Peppersmoke - Deals with any X/1s while saving my bigger removal and it can cantrip
Relic of Progenitus - Should be obvious
Sudden Death - Tech against any twin deck.
Crypt Incursion - Anti-Dredge, possibly anti-rdw
Dismember - Siege Rhino. 'Nuff said.
Inquisition of Kozilek - For matches where I have to be proactive instead of reactive
Consume the Meek - When one isn't enough


Eventually I'll be able to put in better lands (namely fetches). I'd prefer fetchs to the Shock Lands and most of the check lands due to Blood Moon being a real threat, and also because they are always the exact colour I want. I'll still run one of each shock, and maybe 1 or 2 of each check, but fetches will be the main colour fixing.
I like Wydwen, the Biting Gale more than Geist of Saint Traft here because of the Consume the Meek. I'm using Consume the Meek over Damnation, Wrath of God, or Supreme Verdict as I prefer the instant speed of it, and because Wydwen, the Biting Gale is 100% safe without her bounce.
