DISCLAIMER!!

You may be wondering ... how is this a T4 win? Well, technically, it's not. It's impossible with this deck. BUT, most of the time I can get Progenitus out on turn four. When that happens the opponent usually scoops. Hehe.

This is a mono-creature deck. That creature? Progenitus , HYDRA GOD FROM ANCIENT TIMES! How are we going to summon that old god? Well, among the rabble of goblin tokens we have at our disposale, we find that one has a secret within his genome. In fact, Progenitus himself is unknowingly disguised as a goblin!

So, through the act of polymorphzation , we will forcibly bring that godly potential from one of the goblins to bear!

You may be wondering ... how is this a T4 win? Well, technically, it's not. It's impossible with this deck. BUT, most of the time I can get Progenitus out on T4. When that happens the opponent usually scoops. Hehe.

"Elves believe the hydra-god Progenitus sleeps beneath Naya, feeding on forgotten magics."

It is obvious: the sole win condition of this deck is to bring out the Hydra God, Progenitus , preferably and usually on turn four. How will we do that? Polymorphzation , of course! Once this is done, the opponent will usually scoop.

In order for this to happen, the following 3 conditions must be in place (don't worry: we have a contingency plan in case these conditions are foiled at one point or another)

  1. Have a goblin token on the field
  2. Have Progenitus in your library
  3. Successfully cast Polymorph
It is obvious: in order to cheat Progenitus into play, we have to transform him from something. What I've chosen? Goblins.

Dragon Fodder , Hordeling Outburst , and Krenko's Command are bountiful in your deck, and you will have a way to create these little anklebiters. The turn before you cast Polymorph , you MUST ensure that you have goblin tokens. Or else, of course, Progenitus won't be able to emerge from the anklebiter's genome...

The way Polymorph works, you must have Progenitus in your library. This can be difficult if you accidentally draw it...

However, one of the reasons I chose Progenitus, over something like Ulamog is because of the clause, "if this card would be put into a graveward from anywhere, shuffle it into its owner's library instead." With this, I can happily discard the ancient hydra god and get him into my library! Through things like Nahiri's Wrath , Peer Through Depths , Chart a Course , and much more, I get advantages like control and card advantage WHILST placing Progenitus in his proper place in stasis.

This is the easiest condition to understand. Get to 4 mana, and cast Polymorph onto a token. This can be scary at times, if your opponent insta-kills your targeted goblin and/or counter your polymorph. Because of this, I have included Swan Song . With my favorite counter spell, you may want to wait to cast Polymorph until T5.

If you successfully fulfill these three conditions...BOOM! Get ready for your opponent to scoop, and give you a T4 or T5 win! It's not perfect, but it's fun and reliable.

No deck is without it's counters, so yes, there are glaring weaknesses with this gimmicky deck. But ... that's why we have a sideboard :)
  • Infinite Obliteration : Of course this is is a deck weakness. I have one creature. I keep it stored in my library till a minimum of turn four. IT'S A PROBLEM.

  • Geth's Verdict : Progenitus doesn't have protection from THIS!

  • Instand speed spot removal: I can get around this weakness with Swan Song , but you know what can cause your Polymorph to fizzle? ANYTHING that can kill 1/1 red goblin tokens at instant speed or counterspells. Which. Of course, is a crap ton of cards. This is by far the biggest weakness, and incredibly hard to avoid if you don't use Swan Song and/or they have two of these things handy. If they have a creature-on-a-stick with one of these abilities WITH flash, I have Essence Scatter in the sideboard.

What do you guys think about this gimmicky, yet RELIABLE summoning of the ancient hydra god? Suggestions and plus +1's are appreciated!
