Sideboard

When I was looking at modern on MTGTop8, I noticed a distinct lack of Delver of Secrets decks. I hate this card almost as much as I love it, but it felt wrong that one of the best 1 drops ever printed wasn't seeing much love in this format. I started thinking about delver decks in other formats. The first thing I thought of was rUg delver in legacy. But in modern, we have been missing one 3 power one drop for a while- Wild Nacatl!

With that silly thought in my mind, I started building a 4 color delver deck, with many of the best spells in the format. I realized that, if I could squeeze a tiny splash of black in, I'd be able to play Tribal Flames! In went Abrupt Decay, and the deck started to shape up more to what it looks like now.

In playtesting this, I noticed that I don't keep a single role at all times. Often, I'll play a more controlling game, sending every Lightning Bolt in my hand at creatures. Other games, I'll fling fifteen points of burn at my opponent's face. Still other games, I'll remove a creature, swing for six, then cast a Bolt and a pair of Flames to finish the deal.

I've begun referring to this deck as a hybrid deck, because it takes on different roles in every matchup. Let me know if you have any advice for improving it!
