I think I prefer Artful Dodge over Distortion Strike, I have a Similar deck Izzet - Hit Hard

Aloha,

I also run a kiln fiend deck in modern, but one that is a little more mana costly (avg cmc 1.57 instead of 1.26 ~_~). I enjoyed the deck but I felt that it lacked consistency when I ran it against my deck. A few cards that I would recommend looking into are Nivix Cyclops (costs 3, but is a more reliable kill than blistercoil imo. also the 4 toughness helps it survive removal), Flamekin Harbinger (tutors an elemental for R), Temur Battle Rage (additional source of double strike and also provides trample), Artful Dodge (provides evasion and can be cast twice in one turn for an extra fiend trigger), and maybe manamorphose (I just like the card).

Here's my deck: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/kiln-fiend-nivix-cyclops/

Hopefully my comments were helpful.

To be different? Also the creatures buff themselves and its main color is completely different so it provides other options

No need to be so salty though surgeon :) I understand what you mean but magic is for fun and if people have fun with infect then let them have fun :)

Don't get me wrong, I have a lot of fun with infect! (see Pathogen: "I") but I don't believe its the only mechanic that should be played in any format.

That being the case, then the game would die, as it would become predictable and mundane.

When a mechanic is as broken as infect, it's not about having fun as much as it is about simply winning. As a competitor, I'm okay with the whole concept of playing to win.

That being said, trolling on other people's decks and simply saying "[infect is better]" is unsportsman like, childish, and a complete lack of respect and understanding of the game.

This is true but while infect as a mechanic is good, the creatures that it is on are very susceptible to any form of removal so the deck has a downside

Temur Battle Rage might be something to consider for redundancy on the Assault Strobe effect. Also a different cantrip like Serum Visions or Sleight of Hand might work better than Thought Scour as a t1/t2 play to dig for stuff, since you don't really make use of the cards you bin and they function similarly on the turn you're trying to go off?

I'll put in 2. But I'm unsure that I have any. I wasn't a big fan of the tarkir block

why no Monastery Swiftspear in place of Cyclops? The haste can make it a one turn kill potentially, and can leave your opponent VERY unprepared, while also lowering your curve and being able to race your opp. faster. Either way, I still really dig the idea of the deck. +1 up

I'll put in 2 Monastery Swiftspears for 2 Blistercoil Weirds. Both cost one and I do like the haste.

Thank you, DSeddy. As I said, I wasn't fond of the Tarkir block, so I'm not well informed on the sets.

Akroan Crusader Could have a place here. So could Satyr Hoplite. Both fo these 1 drops generate pretty nice board presence that stays around even after the effect of your pumps end.

spiritwolf13,
Thanks for the suggestions, and I see your point; but the creature base I have benefits more from casting noncreature spells that don't require a specific target to get the pumps.
Also, I don't want to add more creatures to (what I suspect) is a over creatured deck for what it's supposed to accomplish in 3-4 turns.

have you thought about putting in Judge's Familiar in the side board in place of Cursecatcher? just to lower the deck cost.

TheSurgeon says... #18

I'll put 2 of them in. I generally play a mountain first, if I can.
I'm actually going to switch around some of the side/main boards; as I play it more often than not, with some burn and the Cursecatchers.
This will also give me some flying blockage in a pinch.
Thanks for kickstarting my brain! That was a great suggestion!

Not much to add to this dude, just that I freaking love this deck. It's super fun, and I've already gotten several turn 2 kills with this. +1 dude, and more if I could.

I like the raw alpha damage and explosive nature of this deck it is a really cool design

Wrixsaber,
Thank you for the compliments! I'm still working with the sideboard, though. Any suggestuons would be appreciated as well!

Rending Volley is great against Twin (especially since it can't be redirected by spellskite). It takes out their deceiver exarch and fizzles the twin allowing for a nice 2 for 1. Plus it can't be countered.
