This looks really good! Got those burn and protection spells. How is it doing at FNM's?

Ordeal of Purphoros is a bad card.. from what i tested.

Definatly switch ordeal of purphoros for Madcap Skills pre rotation for the same mana costs and all around better card!

I would definately make the switch but im keeping this post rotation. But yeah madcap skills is stronger. I wouldnt call ordeal bad however you just need to attack twice or once and an instant for it to trigger a lightning strike.

3-1 at FNM on mobile atm though Dont forget to +1 if you liked it

Looks great! You should try to work Phalanx Leader in here if you can. Definitely more bang for your buck. He's definitely one of the best heroics in the game. Dragon Mantle can be handy too because you get the draw, plus you can pay the mana cost multiple times to make the creature pretty huge.

Don't you struggle with having no creatures at hand from time to time? I'd expect so, as I have this exact problem in Boros Post-Theros and I have three more creatures in it. :-/

Other than that - do NOT take Ordeal of Purphoros out. It's pretty awesome on your heroic guys, even later in the game once it resolves the round you play it. You get 2+ counters and 3 damage on creature or player from one card and as cheap as one red mana (taking Hero of Iroas into account) - it'll hardly get any better than that. Together with Hammerhand and Battle Mastery it's one of the best Boros-Enchantments for post-rotation standard-play.

Depending on your local meta you might consider Fall of the Hammer instead of Lightning Strike . Doesn't work on players, but is a at least equally strong removal with the upside of further pumping your guys.

+1 and good luck with your deck!

regnitteo: If you're having trouble, check out my Boros rotation ready deck. It might give you some ideas: The Endless Plain of Fortune

Thanks for the +1 on my deck, here's what comes to mind for yours. How is 18 lands working for you? Personally I don't like playing with less than 20, because sometimes things get too tight. I understand your curve is very low and I too have won my fair share of games with only 2 mana out, but still every now and then, a third mana would have been nice, or even a just a second mana ;) . Proportionally you run lots of enchantments (including Iroas, who with your build will probably never reach devotion, so I would drop him, or maybe run one for the end game, but for me he has never been too useful, but that will probably change when Khans comes out), so you basically run 11 creatures and 17 enchantments. You should at the very least try to have an equal amount of each and then, in my opinion, you're still running too many enchantments, BUT this can be balanced with some of the cards already suggested (Nyxborn Rollicker , Nyxborn Shieldmate , or things from your maybe board etc.), allowing you to have a bit of both worlds. Of the enchantments you play, I'd only keep Battle Mastery and Ordeal of Purphoros and replace the rest with enchantment creatures, a fourth Satyr Hoplite , and a fourth one of all your instants. That way you'll pretty much always have a target for your enchantments and some more instant heroic triggers, which is worth gold I tell you.

Also, Fall of the Hammer is not a good card in this deck, or any deck that doesn't run creatures that are readily over power 3. And then it still isn't a good card, because you can only target creatures. 3 damage to the face is better than telling this creature to slap that creature.

I'll update the deck when i get home later tonight. I had 3x Akroan Skyguard that I took out for Hammerhand that I havent playtested with yet but I've yet to run into creature issues in my opening hand. Ill try taking out some ench for ench creatures and see how that works. I really like Iroas, God of Victory for his unblockable unless using 2 defenders plus attacking creatures being indestructable lets me attack into fatties carefree and gives an evasion element

I would switch Satyr Hoplite for Akroan Crusader and I would also add Launch the Fleet . I'm not sure what instants and enchantments you're most attached too but I would play the whole 4 Launch the Fleet, myself.

Hm that seems like a really good idea. I'll have to figure out how to manage that but it also opens me up to possibly run Obelisk of Urd . Thanks Midwest

The_Raven says... #13

You NEED to run at least 16 creatures. 20 would be the best I think :D

Maybe 4x Soldier of the Pantheon ? What to cut? Hmm..... Hammerhand :D

Fizzery says... #14

NorthernRaven Playtest it a bit, i think the creature count is fine for what the deck is trying to achieve

The_Raven says... #15

Playtested.... Hm.... Hard to say. If you have had good results with the deck mana base, then fine :D

I would still suggest to cut Hammerhand :D

From experience with my R/W Heroic Aggro, never ever underestimate Hammerhand . Waiting a turn to cast a creature with an extra red to bring it in is amazing, but I prefer Fabled Hero and Anax and Cymede with my Aggro.

Haha! Yeah, I forget to realize that when I get excited about things. I do like the deck, though, and I got to see a heroic deck kick my butt to day, so I now appreciate the viability much more. Great deck, though! +1
