The deck is focused on pressuring your opponent with an unusually high amount of deployed cards at an abnormally high draw rate. The concept is designed to outpace your opponent's tricks and removals.

Genesis Hydra and Temur Ascendancy are key to pacing the deck. The cards even couple well with each other since Genesis Hydra's fetch is on "cast" so you Temur Ascendancy comes into play on the stack ahead procing draw and haste. Pretty cool, but I'm not done.

With mana dorks,the deck is curved for Genesis Hydra to be an effective five drop with the intention of drawing all of the permanents besides a land and another Genesis Hydra. There are 35 permanents with 3 or less mana, so you're fairly guaranteed to play a card.

I've really wanted to use Illusory Angel , and I feel like this deck is perfect for her. Aside from the Genesis Hydra + Illusory Angel combo, she works well with a Elvish Mystic + Temur Ascendancy . How many times have you had her in your hand with only 3 mana out. Cast a Mystic with haste and tap if for mana. Easy Peasy.

The big issue with Temur Ascendancy is either having it in hand when not needed, drawing a duplicate, or top decking the card. Monastery Siege helps siphon out the Temur Ascendancy when you don't need it. A lot of times, I'll chuck Temur Ascendancy early game knowing that I'll pick up another one with a Genesis Hydra.
