Do you know of the infinite counter combo. all you need is Rewind and the emblem of Tamiyo, the Moon Sage

Loyalty, good to see that they didn't give you the (full) Wrath of God, but you still got hit hard.

Anyways, why not 4x Remand? It seems slightly better in a control deck than Mana Leak. How is Lullmage Mentor working out for you? Is it better than Lord of Atlantis? Thats what most staple merfolk decks seem to run but I guess not this one :P

@ Bobby654 - It's a cool combo, but sounds near impossible to set up.

@ Bovine073 - I totally lost one of my other decks with 54 upvotes which I gained legitimately over a year ago. It was removed because last week I added an upvote button to it. Oh well. I've had this discussion with many people about Remand, Mana Leak and Deprive. I opt for Mana Leak as it's the only option that'll actually deal with the threat for good. Remand does have it's place though in many decks, especially tempo. To be honest Lullmage Mentor is pretty crap in here. It sometimes gives extra value to the counterspells however there are many better options for it. I just like it for this decks gimmick. Generally when I play kitchen-table I'll switch it for True-Name Nemesis.

@ MenacingBunny - unfortunately both of those cards are banned in Modern. When I play casually with some friends I do have a playset of Counterspell I switch in.

where'd u get dose sexy alters?

Maringam I don't actually own them. I run zendikar full art lands in my deck. If you want to use them on the site just type * A=3149 * after island.

You're going in the right direction, but I feel you need fewer creatures and more counterspells.

BTW, props for you for running all Zendikar lands.

Cavern of Souls would be great in the deck and maybe Mutavault

December 25, 2015 1:34 a.m.

You have no white cards in your deck, so why do you use Wanderwine Hub? It just makes you reveal a Merfolk. I would get rid of those and put some Islands in the deck.

Silvergill Adept is a must have. Easily the best card in modern merfolk.

chickenfingers7536 its sort of just insurance against cards like Boil, Boiling Seas and Choke.

lcscipiop I'm definitely seeing it's value. What would you switch it for? the Lullmage Mentor don't actually do a lot..so maybe that.

Loyalty I think it depends on whether we're building a deck that's fun or a deck that's good. The draw a card part is insane in a deck that has mostly 2 drops.

I saw "COUNTER ALL THE THINGS", "Combo" and "Merfolk" and expected to see the Intruder Alarm + Lullmage Mentor combo.

lanimilbuS For the longest time I was running Lullmage Mentor which paired with Kira, Great Glass-Spinner nicely. Truth is through a lot of playtesting, he didn't do a lot. Each game he'd produce maybe 1 merfolk token if lucky and it's very difficult reaching 7 merfolk without something like Summon the School or Stonybrook Schoolmaster.

ArchFline I'll give it some testing and see how it goes.

If you're willing to branch out from explicitly Merfolk, there's Spiketail Hatchling, who's a nice little flyer with the added benefit of being better at Curse-catching than Cursecatcher, due to the fact that Cursecatcher can only stop an Instant or Sorcery. If you're willing to have a non-Merfolk and pay the extra 1, it can be worth it in a counter-centric deck.

Daxos23 6 turns in modern is a kind of a long wait, It would however be funny as hell. Might chuck 1 in for a potential laugh.

I know It's not practical but I was just really hopful that someone besides me thought it was funny. Don't actually put one in though.
