Love the idea! Why not run Shivan Reef x4 instead of Sulfur Falls and take out 1 Island for the 4th Scalding Tarn and finally remove 1 Mountain for Arid Mesa.

In other words:

-4 Sulfur Falls +4 Shivan Reef

-1 Island +1 Scalding Tarn

-1 Mountain +1 Arid Mesa

This way you are 'near' guaranteed to have 3 duals on turn 3. Takes a lot of life, but if you kill on turn 3/4 it won't matter much and the mana base will be a bit smoother.

Even if you left the other mana the way it is, I think the Shivan Reefs over the Sulfur Falls would be the way to go.

BX223Hunter I'm not sure if you realize that Steam Vents counts as an island and a mountain. Therefore Sulfur Falls is almost always coming into play untapped just as the mana is already. I'm not convinced it needs to be tweaked at the moment.

At post 82, what post 83 says, "Land - Island Mountain".

I've been working on a similar version of this deck using Flamekin Harbinger as a way to basically have 8 Kiln Fiends.

Just thought I'd pass along the idea in case you like it.

That is actually an awesome idea for tutoring the Kiln Fiends out. It seems risky though depending on how many archive traps are present in the current meta. danodcm Thanks I might put Flamekin Harbinger in my Devil's Due to replace Goblin Guide it would speed up either of my win conditions either for the Kiln Fiend or the Chandra's Spitfire. That is such an awesome card thanks for pointing it out!

User users/graft upgraded my account for me. I can't link his name because it just links to some deck, it's not the orange I want but I can't figure out how to change the shade to the one I want.

In your profile after you click your own name there should be an edit button to clickright next to your name., that'll take you to the customize screen. From there google a html color generator and enter the hash code for each letter of your name.

I have the color orange that I wanted now, I figured it all out.

So I officially have the deck put together. All I'm missing is 1 Steam Vents which I can borrow from a friend. There's a decent sized local modern tournament planned for April 3rd. I'll let everyone know how I do! =P

I was wondering if you have considered Cackling Counterpart it counts as another Kiln Fiend plus it pumps them because it is an instant.

It would screw up the mana curve, you want all the instants and sorceries to be 1 CMC if possible, 2 is okay but 3 is too much.

Thanks Reynan. Hopefully the deck performs as good as everyone seems to like it here. I've done some reading but i'm relatively unfamiliar with the modern meta. Particularly in my area so... Tomorrow is my big tournament day! Hopefully I can bring a 1st place win and win that box. Any last minute comments/concerns/changes that anybody can spot?

i got it to a 21 power double striker, unblockable, pro one color, on the third turn, for a total of 42 damage (though you would have to use a fair amount of phyrexian mana and get really luck with your draws) +1 for 42 damage
