I really want to make this a competitive deck, because I love the idea of the deck. But it says casual up at the top, and that discouraged me. So, could I be able to upgrade this into a FNM-like deck. I want to at least go 2-2 with the deck, because that's pretty damn good in my book. Thx for taking the time to look at my question.

Unfortunately, no ;(. I have asked them to do it, but everyone would just tell me to play Magic Online if I wanted to play Pauper, and that my LGS shouldn't host a Pauper event. My LGS only does Standard, Modern, and Sunday Commander, unfortunately.

I was messing with that idea too, ItsReshiram so I started working on a more competitive list. This is what I came up with so far:

Abzan "Twin"

Take a look at it, leave there your thoughts, criticize! I did not work much on that list just yet, so what you'll see is basically just a prototype of a prototype :D. Anyway, more talking tomorrow, it is like 3 am in my country and I shall go sleep.

How has the deck came along? Is it being improved, or hasn't been touched?

The biggest change made in the deck from the original script is Lignify which replaced Journey to Nowhere as well as Pacifism, which happens to be a great card for the deck, as it can be tutored and deals with a problematic creature completely. Other than that I don't believe that any major changes had been done. It should be noted that I don't play this deck any more as I'm brewing with some other decks, non of them, however, felt interesting enough.

Alright guys, I said a while ago that I would love to build a competitive version of this deck. I sat down, looked at some other decks and came up with this deck:

Collectible "Twin"

The description is not perfect just yet and I'm not sure with all the card choices either. This is why I would love if you looked at the deck and gave me any and all ideas of improvement you could think of. Hope you like it!

Hope it does well for you! It purely depends on how competitive your LGS is, but it can be decent even in semi-competitive meta :)

Ever thought of adding a couple of Crusader of Odric to the deck? It would mesh well with the infinite token combo

jorjo10 says... #14

That would be a win-more card rather than anything else. I believe that if this deck successfully goes infinite then one more creature cannot change anything, no matter what stats it has. Sure, it would be cool, but it is far from necessary and overall would just lessen the odds of assembling the combo itself.

Might of the Masses can also protect your creatures from burn or be a win-con.

With 8 mana dorks and a pretty low curve, do you think you could get by with less land?

May 12, 2016 1:42 p.m.

jorjo10 says... #17

I guess you could cut 1-2 lands if you are willing to do so. However, I chose not to as I want to be certain to always have 3 mana on T2 so that I can cast Midnight Guard or Heliod's Pilgrim. I feel like 8 mana dorks can guarantee that there is at least one in the opening hand and 20 land is an insurance. But I feel like 19 land is perfectly reasonable if you feel like doing so.

Ordered this deck as my first modern deck. +1 from me! Saw this style of play with a W/U/R deck utilizing Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker...brutal. Wish me luck!

Open the armory instead of heliod's pilgrim?

May 29, 2016 5:05 p.m.

jorjo10 says... #20

I believe that Heliod's Pilgrim is overall better. Even though it costs 3 instead of 2, it can be grabbed by Commune with Nature or by Commune with the Gods which I consider to be an upside big enough to run the Pilgrim rather than Open the Armory. But then again, it is up to everyone's taste. I like when things are synergistic but if you prefer lower mana cost then I perfectly understand.

VS Instant Reanimator?
When Emrakul, the Aeons Torn is put into a graveyard from anywhere, its owner shuffles his or her graveyard into his or her library.
I suggest you: Beckon Apparition (side).

I think I am better served with the Tormod's Crypt in the sideboard as it is useful in more match-ups (e.g. against dredge or the new Thopter combo deck). Sure, the surprise effect is not present which is often very good against instant reanimators, but as I said, I feel like having a medium good sideboard card against many match-ups is better than having one that is good in just one particular match-up and way worse in many others. Thanks for the suggestion anyway, though.

Just here to point that Ranger's Guile could be swaped for the new Blossoming Defense!

I like this deck, and when Twin was banned I thought it was going to replace it. A shame that the combo is a little slow. But okay for kitchen table

December 10, 2016 7:57 a.m.

jorjo10 says... #24

That is a great point, thank you!

Well, the problem is that this combo is a bit fragile, slow and as opposed to the UR Twin deck it lacks means of reacting with your opponent's game plan. Therefore it is not really suitable for competitive play, but might be sufficient for some FNM. Ans as you said, for kitchen table it is perfect.

why so many mana dorks? I don not think this deck need that much.

~2-4x Trinket Mage for tutor altar? I know it need 3rd color, but... it allow you to bring here some hate like Relic of Progenitus or Pithing Needle.

Do you know in pauper is deck that is build around this combo? Midnight Presence (link). Cards are mostly legal in modern :)
