I could see Tasigur, the Golden Fang as a replacement to Goyf #4. The card draw could be pretty relevant in the late game, and occasionally this deck floods out because of Bob.

After testing Tasigur, the Golden Fang, I think he's powerful but I don't want to risk flipping him with Dark Confidant. I'm going back to 4 Tarmogoyfs instead.

Makes sense. What do you think about a couple Creeping Tar Pit for the late game?
March 15, 2015 3:28 p.m.
I'm hesitant to add too many lands that come into play tapped. I'll test 1 Creeping Tar Pit over a Watery Grave because it's strong, but generally this wants a lot of open mana so that it can threaten with counter spells.

What do you think of Plaxmanta and Wolfir Avenger? Manta is supposed to be a more reliable Spellstutter Sprite and Wolfy is meant to be just another 3-cost body since Vendilion Clique is legendary. The regenerate on Wolf is nice but sometimes it just feels like a really bad Tarmogoyf.

Thrun, the Last Troll could be a solid sideboard option against control decks, but in general this deck doesn't want to tap out on it's own turn. That's why everything in this deck with mana cost 3+ can be played at instant speed. Also, Thrun would be a pretty bad flip off of Dark Confidant.

This is great execept, why are you running Dark Confidant? He is hardly a tempo spell. It seems like all he does is draw you cards. He doesn't stabilize the board and unless you start swinging in with him or block what use is he? While it is true that more cards increases the percentage that you will have a spell to outmatch your opponent, why don't you just replace Confidant with that answer? In my opinion, that is how you out-tempo the opponent, not by waiting around picking up cards. I'd go an extra Spell Pierce and run 3 Vapor Snag.

I wasn't sure if Dark Confidant was a good choice for this deck in the first place and I can still see an argument against him. He is absolutely the best turn 2 play that this deck has; after that he is less valuable but not bad. Bob not only comes with 2 power at 2 mana, but also gives the deck more inevitability and is a powerful source of card advantage. Card draw feels really good in a deck of 1-for-1 trades, plus he can attack. If I were to cut Bob, I would replace him with 2 answers and 2 creatures rather than straight up 4 answers. I forgot about Vapor Snag; that card is great.

Alternatively, I could see 2 Bitterblossom and 2 Vapor Snag in place of Bob.

As long as you do swing in and block to kill with your Dark Confidants then that should be fine, maybe leave two in with two Vapor Snag to replace the others? Its up to you, if you feel they are essential then you know your deck best :)

Dark confidant needs to stay.
Wolfir Avenger is absolutely the worst card in your deck. Vapor Snag, Murderous cut, Mystic Snake, just about anything would be better. Dimir Charm also seems solid here. Simic Charm is a more versatile Plaxmanta.. But I think you might want the body on manta.

I think the 2/2 body on Plaxmanta is a keep because it makes for a solid tempo play against removal. I would agree with FuneralofGod that I would replace the Wolfir Avenger with something. I think replace them and one Spell Snare with 3 Vapor Snag. That way you have more spells to use for Snapcaster Mage. I think currently only 15 spells isn't enough to be consistently useful with snap.

Also, with such a low cmc curve, you could even go with less lands. I'd say 20 with the other 2 being replaced with another Spell Pierce and another snapcaster maybe?
March 19, 2015 5:42 p.m.
@FuneralofGodI agree that Wolfir Avenger is not great. I put him in to have another decent creature at 3 cmc, but I think cutting him is a good decision at this point.
I think an extra Grizzly Bear body on Plaxmanta is more useful than the other modes of Simic Charm, but it's certainly worth testing.
I'm not a huge fan pf Dimir Charm; it seems too limited.
@MooerI think I'm going to cut 2 Wolfir Avenger and 1 land for 3 Vapor Snag. Going down to 21 land seems right since I'm cutting the wolf. I think 20 lands is too low, but with Bobs it could work.

Tasigur, the Golden Fang would probably go well here :)
