Thanks man! The idea of running pack rat in here just came to me last night, seems pretty solid until I can get all my goyfs.

Might just go for the full play set of Path to Exile instead of Putrefy and Bile Blight . Cool deck though +1

Have you considered a full playset of Lingering Souls ?

a full playset of obliterators isnt even fun to go up against but i like it maybe drop some of the one ofs and make 4 ofs for stuff like souls and obliterator for consistency but all in all i like it

ive been running rock deck for a long time man, and Id love to be running a full set of obliterators, but its just not right in this build. with 3 colors, and 4x BBBB spells in the deck it is a little hard to get off from time to time.

I have considered a full set of lingering souls (obviously) but that is simply my personal tastes, I don't play white much and I just wanted the splash to be very small. I keep a 3rd souls in SB though (which I really need to get the SB posted).

Life from the Loam is definitely great with fetches, manlands and Raven's Crime.

With all this discard control, you could almost go 8-Rack. :) Maybe Chalice of the Void for the SB? That would really be my only recommendation as I'm not familiar enough with rock to be honest. How does this deck run vs the retardedly popular Delver in modern right now? Seems efficient, I like this.

Scytec its funny you say that, i was considering it for a while. and it would only run me about 50$ for everything i dont have for 8rack yet.

I was even thinking of keeping it rock deck mainboard, then after game 1, when the opponent sides in a bunch of stuff for the rock, I side in stuff to make it 8 rack. Hows that for super-secret sideboard technique haha

Ultimately I decided the rack was too unreliable, and that the rock is just a superior deck.

Ive been playtesting quite a bit against delver, as it is one of the biggest decks in the format currently. Personally Id rather run a full set of obliterators instead of siege rhino, but the early game pressure put on by delver &friends makes the life gain from rhino crucial. These delver decks are forcing life gain to be bigger in modern in general, not just in the rock.

Thanks for the comment bud, was a good one.

Don't know if I would go that far. :) Thanks though. I like the rhino. I am glad it made the splash it did in modern to be honest. That 4 mana 6 life difference on a 4/5 trample body is just insane. But the Obliterator is still more powerful in my opinion. But you are correct. Even a little lifegain completely nullifies these burn decks. Out of curiosity, how do you view Sorin, Solemn Visitor in a few of the eternal formats?

well i mean it got me on a rant is what i mean haha

Sorin, Solemn Visitor is decent, I almost bought one last night, but for 4 mana, you get very little immediate value. Even though he protects himself with the token or gets out of bolt range when you +1. For 4 mana I could be playing say..siege rhino or obliterator. And I just want to keep the average CMC as close to 2 as well. thats just preference though.

Why Dismember and Slaughter Pact? Wouldn't 2x Path to Exile be better?

December 18, 2014 11:38 a.m.

8vomit says... #13

Ya know, I had path in here, and i got a bunch of crap for it. basically because I need to be filling the yards, and do not want to give them an extra land.

I guess thats why im not suppsed to run path to exile in rock? Idk man. I might put it back in. dont think i would cut dismember or slaughter pact though, both are super powerful cards

I dislike courser in the list. Just go 4 rhinos and call it a day. Also why the miser duress over the 4th inquisition?

January 10, 2015 2:02 a.m.

8vomit says... #19

Why don't you like courser here? he kicks ass. free fetches, helps make sure i get my land drops, and pretty solid blocker. Plus I dont want that many 4-drops in here.

Jsusx says... #23

Lol this guys mad. Duress is in here bcuz it is really good against delver (aswell as obliterator). It doesnt cost u life like thoughtseize , wich is important against such a pressuring deck, also his land base is "pain" enough. Also it can grab treasure cruise unlike inquisition. Now have a good day dumbshit.

You're retarded. Not every deck needs TCruise, and in fact many are better off without it. Your attitude is what is wrong with Magic.

Playing Duress as a 1 of is a perfectly reasonable decision (could also consider Blackmail, but I think Duress is perfectly reasonable).

+1 just for dealing with this clown.
