Wanted to build a serious deck in paper since most of mine currently are just for the laughs (Shelldock Emrakul 2.0 and 8-Tog). Also wanted a control deck based on Caw-Blade from years past. With many of the key cards banned in modern like Jace, the Mind Sculptor, Stoneforge Mystic, and Preordain it was hard to do but by adding more creatures including some that can fetch our swords! (they can't cheat them into play though which is a bummer) this is what I've come up with. Esper Control with lots of toolbox creatures/silver bullet cards that can be grabbed a moment's notice. The mana could be tuned more but going off what I had for this build so keep that in mind if you were to build this yourself.

Thursday Night Modern 3/9/17 results — March 10, 2017

Decided to run the deck as updated above which has more scary threats such as geist, BFZ Gideon, and 4 Drop Elspeth. These threats are at the cost of the trinket mage package which means losing our main deck graveyard hate.

Match 1: 0-2 vs dredge: Geist of saint traft and Squak with swords got him under 5 life both matches but conflagrate won him both matches.

Match 2: 2-1 vs Mardu Bridge from Below: This deck was sweet. It played a bunch of the standard recurring dredge creatures, Greater Garg, and bridge from below to turbo out a Garg and make a ton of zombies. It didn't even play dredgers! Flyers and gideon were key here.

Game 1: Geist of Saint traft+gideon emblem took down the first game.

Game 2 he got leyline of the void out which hurt lingering souls and prevented me from removing bridge from below. still came down to the wire. with me getting down to one life and him getting down to 5.

Game 3 He got the turn 0 leyline but could not fid a bridge from below. He anger of the god's leaving nothing on board. I played gideon into 4 Drop elspeth making gideon an 8/8 flyer for 2 attack steps to win.

Match 3: 1-2 vs Fish

Game 1: He flooded so flyer/sword beats got there

Game 2: I got mana screwed with a wrath of god in hand that would've allowed me to stabalize

Game 3: Extremely close, game came down to me not playing my land in hand during my dirst main phase allowing gideon to be spell pierced which the emblem gave me lethal on board. I died to island walking fish the next turn.
