Hi Sagarys, no problem with the article. Those things take time.
SpatulonMk3, thanks for reminding of Assault Strobe!
Now, back to the new Fight build. I played casually against a few decks with small deathtouch creatures (GW Aggro). It was painful to attack into those, so it's definitely the way for us to go.
A starting point for me to test on weekend would be:
- 16 small deathtouch creatures - to play as early defense,
- a fight engine of 2 Domri Rade, 2 Ulvenwald Tracker, 3 instant fight spells,
- 2 Gravepurge to refuel Domri,
- 2 Agent of the Fates, 2 Setessan Oathsworn - to see if three-mana creatures remain awesome,
- 2 Temur Battle Rage or Assault Strobe, 2 Rancor, 2 Mutagenic Growth or Gather Courage - Rancor on Typhoid Rats feels so wrong/sweet at the same time,
- 25 appropriate lands to play all spells mentioned above.
I expect going down to 20-22 lands, mixing deathtouch creatures with lifelink creatures like Child of Night, adding 4 copies of Duress to know opponent's hand and to take away Splinter Twin and Skullcrack from starting hands.

Has anybody given thought to Arena? Utility lands are my favorite, even though this one taps for ZERO mana. (Unless Urborg is out).

In the version with 25 lands, two Arenas for sure! Then I'll see which fight enabler works the best.

I think I'm gonna let you spearhead the new deck, MarioLL. This one feels more like your baby. Make a new deck list and tag me in the comments so I can help you build it like we did here. I bestow unto you Fight Deck 4.0

Are you running Prey's Vengeance because it has rebound? Instead, you could use Giant Growth for a greater effect.

I really like this deck, only edit I'd make is that I personally feel like it would be worth running 4x Prey's Vengeance, being able to trigger heroic twice with one card is just too tasty. +1

Actually, I also believe your sideboard would greatly benefit from Dismember or some other means of removal without having to use your creatures, always good to have it as an answer, If you were to go against infect or some indestructible creatures, dismember could come in handy.

This deck has been retro-fitted for my Ultra-budget series!

It was tested thoroughly and there was almost never a situation where it was needed. Having to tap the creature to fight takes away the advantage of fighting and then also attacking in the same turn.

Was Experiment One ever considered? Or would a playset put the price over the top?

Thanks for the suggestion though. This deck has probably seen the most playtesting of any of my decks thanks to MarioLL who really put it through the ringer in all its variations. This deck's biggest advantage is using fights to clear the way for massively pumped creatures to attack. Ideally, you throw out something like Prey Upon, drop their toughest creature, then attack. If they don't block or you trample through, then you pop some more heroic triggering spells and swing for the kill. It happens very quickly.

There are two VERY long comments section in the updates detailing every single change, their tests results, and their reasoning. Chances are, if you have an idea, it's in there.

The downside of Experiment One is it needs +1/+1 counters to get regeneration, but it doesn't possess a heroic trigger to put those counters on itself. As I know of, there is only one spell that puts +1/+1 on a creature and fights: Dromoka's Command. Epic Experiment pumps a creature until end of turn. Since it's not a Warrior to be pumped by Bramblewood Paragon, we would have to put in the deck other spells that can produce +1/+1 counters. I think it's a little too much work to fit one card in the deck: one that's not a high-end finisher like Staunch-Hearted Warrior and it doesn't provide value for other cards like Bramblewood Paragon or Tuskguard Captain do.

Any thoughts on Aspect of Hydra? Seems like it could work well if there was something that could be pulled out.

There's also Hunt the Weak, but Dromoka's Command makes it look really dumb.

Bioshift?? And what's the reasoning behind the beetle??

kameenook, you're right, Hunt the Weak. And you're right about its value :) With four mana we have better things to play than this.

I think I like Agent of the Fates here quite a bit the more I think about it. Targeting him with double strike and lifelink enablers and damage pumps means clearing the board in a second way besides just fighting everything - and if your opponent is dumb enough (doesn't understand the rules of the stack very well that is), potentially killing two creatures with a single fight spell. And often, if you just attack with a deathtoucher, your opponent will let it through. In that case, hit him with Temur Battle Rage, double strike damage to the face and kill a creature.
