$14 and the headache of finding cards to remove, especially from it that betrays that is a high drop and is useful only once it swings and/or a gravepact effect. Plus Promo sheoldred is hideous. Sheoldred is good enough to warren a spot, where It that betrays is too situation.

sheoldred and it that betrays go hand in hand. you dont have to attack with them shoeldred, butcher, grave pact, and dictate do the work for you and if you are running braids with sheoldred and it that betrays you are taking everything. both are more than worth putting in here

also you might want to think about Grave Titan keep bringing him back with sheoldred and sack him with gisa = 8 zombie tokens

You ever considered Attrition or Mind Slash as ways to deal with opponents? Some other cards I think would be good in here would be Grave Titan , Gray Merchant of Asphodel , Dark Prophecy , Sepulchral Primordial , and Sheoldred, Whispering One .

@Saithor thanks for the comment. Both Sheoldred, Whispering One and Grave Titan are on my acquire board. Dark prophecy used to be in here, but it was killing me. Attrition could be good. Both Gray Merchant of Asphodel and Mind Slash seem underwhelming. Especially Grey merchant, Tokens don't give any devotion so it's not very good.

The primordial is good, I'll try to add it.

Liliana of the Dark Realms and Sorin Markov are great EDH walkers, Phyrexian Obliterator is disgusting in any format, and Whip of Erebos is great for skyrocketing your life total

I have the whip in the build, obliterator died right away and was not really worth it, that liliana is lack luster and isn't actually that great in edh and I might add sorin because win con's are good.

The problem with Phyrexian Obliterator in EDH is that nobody is ever in a million years going to block it or otherwise damage it. 5 damage is not enough of a threat in a format that starts you off at 40 life, so what you're left with is just have a 5/5 for 4 with no utility beyond it being basically unblockable. Inconsistent, easy to remove non-hasted creature beats doesn't really merit a slot in most decks. There are even times in EDH when your opponent will be more than happy to sacrifice creatures. The only value I got out of him in the dozen games I played with him was having him beef up Gray Merchant of Asphodel .

I like Liliana of the Dark Realms in mono-Black EDH. Early game she'll make sure you hit your land drops, her Ult is great but not quite intimidating enough that people will go out of their way to cut her down, and if you pull her late she can be either removal or a blowout buff to swing in for lethal. In terms of sheer power though I'd probably rather see a dozen other cards, including Sorin.

I'd run Mind's Eye over Staff of Nin . The plink in Staff of Nin doesn't really come close to the sheer card advantage Mind's Eye can generate. I was skeptical of Mind's Eye at first because you have to pay for each draw, but in practice in EDH it's basically draw for every land you have untapped at the end of your turn. It has that Consecrated Sphinx quality where it doesn't have to survive a round to get you anything, it pays off on their draw step and bonus points if your opponents are drawing lots of cards. With all the mana doubling in mono-color and specifically the mana bonanza that is mono-Black their Stroke of Genius is your Stroke of Genius.

I might play mind's eye...I'll try it out at least. and thank you for better answering why Obliterator was removed. it was dead on.

Looking like a solid build with loads of thoughts and gobs of time spent getting it to where it's at currently.

I'll be looking to build similarly once commander 14 drops.

Thanks for the hard work!

Remove the Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth . you dont want you're opponents lands tapping for 2/BB from Caged Sun

Vyxil- Caged Sun only effects me and Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth make my non-basic lands tap for . Extraplanar Lens affects opponents but it affect "lands with the same name". Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth only adds the subtype "swamp" and thus does not help my opponent get

I would diffidently put in Sheoldred, since you got sac as an underline theme you can do a really good combo with Butcher of Malakir + Fleshbag Marauder + Sheoldred, Whispering One , that's 2 creatures on your turn and 1 creature on theirs, every turn, its a combo I use in one of my decks, granted I use Slum Reaper but I been meaning to change out Slum for Fleshbag.

I have one but I don't know what to remove for it.

October 9, 2014 1:36 p.m.

I can understand that. When you find a good balance for your deck its easy to want to add something new but hard to take something away.

Playtested this against a mono-white Darian deck and had a bit of fun.I have to say, the urborg tomb of yawgmoth + extraplanar lense combo seems like a great idea at first- until i realised that since i had turned all my opponents lands into swamps, the effect applies to them too, and you've just smashed the game along into late game on turn 3. Terrifying, and perhaps not cost effective, but holy shit, a good bit of devil's play for commander. B'yeah, depending on your aims, i'd suggest removing tomb of yawgmoth (your deck is mono-black anyway, so it's not really needed, and the extraplanar lense is dangerous to you if you have tomb of yawgmoth out)- unless you actually want to suddenly drop late game on everyone just for the cackles- that's pretty good too....actually, wow, it could be awesome if you do it right. Their response to having all this mana will likely be to drop everything as quickly as possible, opening them up for one of your brutal board clears and then decree of pain-ing all over that, leaving you with a few turns of free reign. If you planned this, you're a genius.

Enchantments are indeed an issue though, if they can drop a good 'everything is weak now' (e.g. humility) card, it's really hard to recover from. Spine of Ish Sah is a good artifiact for removing any such threats.B'yeah, this deck is insane. such an awesome capacity for token generation. It looks like a lot of fun.

Why on earth did you remove sensei top? It's one of the best cards in the format. Necropotence too?

October 11, 2014 6:32 p.m.

CuteSnail says... #25

@ChiefBell Top was not worth it's slot. I honestly think it's an overrated card. it wasn't doing enough work. I'll intend to pick up a Necropotence soon.
