Who needs damage when I can simply turn my creatures sideways to attack your library directly?
This is my Phenax mill deck that is (currently) undefeated in my playgroup.
Phenax makes for an interesting and fun mill experience that blends the toughness-matters cards you might see in something like Arcades, the Strategist/Doran, the Siege Tower with the mill and graveyard-matters strategies of Dimir.
The multitude of beefy blockers and the fact that they can be left untapped for blocking and only tapped to mill at the end step before your turn means that the deck is able to maintain a surprisingly strong defense while still dishing out mill to opponents.
The real stars of the show in this deck are Consuming Aberration, Mortivore, Bonehoard, and the other similar cards that scale based on things in your opponents' graveyards. Mixing them with any untapping effects means they can blow up to astronomical size and end the game very quickly.
Another notable bombshell in the deck is Eater of the Dead
, an older card that is capable of single-handedly ending the game with Phenax.
It's able to tap to mill 4, and untap by exiling any creature from a graveyard. If you look at most average decklists, you'll quickly see that the amount of creatures in the deck is usually higher than 1/4.
Because of this, Eater of the Dead can usually continue milling and untapping over and over until each opponent is either milled out, or very nearly so.
As you can see I have a ton of things in my Maybeboard that are either being tested for the deck or were narrowly cut in the past. That said, I'm always open to more suggestions for the deck.
