This deck is a control deck disguised as a midrange deck. Splashing black helps round out our control/removal. Abrupt Decay, Golgari Charm, and
Ultimate Price
are not only great answers for Pack Rat but very good against monoblue or monogreen. Curse of the Swine is one of my new favorite cards. It is true that sometimes you can get killed by your own tokens but with gods in the format i think it is a mandatory main deck of at least one. I know I've killed my fair share of Nylea's and Thassa's with it.Wincons include
Kalonian Hydra
, Polukranos, World Eater, and
Reaper of the Wilds
.
Each of these three serve a different purpose and most likely will be sideboarded out in different matches:
Reaper of the Wilds
is my go to card for monoblack or any other deck that runs tons of removal. Either flashing it while my opponent is untapped or just hard casting with six mana open.
Kalonian Hydra
is a creature that just has to be answered right away. Its a card that makes people concede right when it hits the field when they don't have a way to remove it.
Polukranos, World Eater is usually one of the first threats to hit the field because it can come out turn three. sometimes it's just bait for removal but against small creature decks it is absolutely devastating.
Another wincon that is rare but has happened is
Boon Satyr
bestowed on Master Biomancer. Biomancer is one of my favorite cards and can easily become a real threat with
Kalonian Hydra
hanging around.
Mana ramp in this deck is pretty much self explanatory with Sylvan Caryatid and Courser of Kruphix
Cyclonic Rift is mainly a late game blow out that usually results in a win out of nowhere.
Mizzium Skin is a card I'm gonna try out for a while just as some protection for my wincons.
This deck is very fun to play. It feels like a toolbox with answers to almost everything but I think it is missing card draw or a way to dig.Should I use
Prognostic Sphinx
or AEtherling instead of my other finishers? I was also thinking of
Primeval Bounty
as another wincon. Any advice would be awesome.
