Essentially this deck is a defender deck that does not use Vent Sentinel. Now, without this rather obvious and classic win condition for a defender deck how do I plan to win. Essentially the win comes from three options. First is using Assault Formation, allowing me to remove defender and smash my opponent in the face with a wall (which is a very funny mental image). The second option is waiting for planeswalker ultimates to go off. Ultimates such as Chandra Nalaar, Domri Rade, and Garruk, Primal Hunter are good game swingers if not outright game clinchers while Ajani Vengeant will more than likely win you the game. The third is utilizing the mana ramp from Axebane Guardian and Overgrown Battlement in conjunction with Banefire and Devil's Play. The Fourth and final option is again using mana ramp to hit Colossus of Akros.Side note on the sideboard: It is very tuned to the people I play with a lot. Sigarda, Host of Herons is there because of a prolific amount of sacrificing. Legion's Initiative is there for board wipes and Dictate of Erebos. Mana Tithe is a really fun card for me because no one ever expects the counter spell from white. Kosan's grip is there for artifact and enchantment hate. Anger of the Gods is a great board sweeper because it hates on tokens and different forms of reanimation or death triggers and it does not kill most of my own creatures. Finally Pride Guardian is there for a side boarding against aggro decks because of the substantial life gain and slowing down of the pace of games against such opponents.All that aside I'd love to hear all of y'all's comments/thoughts on how to make this deck better (whatever that means to you) that includes a more modern focussed side board!
