The current build of my budget competitive Tainted Shimmer Zur deck. The build is intended to follow typical AdNaus, Thoracle, and Aetherflux storm lines within the limits of my budget (not paying more than $100 AUD per card) and personal scruples (I do not play cards featuring art by Nielsen or Bradley no matter how good). My meta is not strictly cEDH even though I've followed cEDH guides and primers in building this deck, and it can expect to go up against anything from 8/10 to 10/10 when I play at the LGS. The core strategies of this deck are well explained in numerous places so I won't go into them here, and instead just make a few notes on card choices / omissions.

Isochron Scepter: I've chosen to include this card primarily to enable IsoRev lines with AdNaus and/or Aetherflux Reservoir, since my budget doesn't allow for the use of a few otherwise crucial mana rocks (Mana Crypt, Mana Vault, Mox Diamond).

Silence: My experiences so far make this a stand-out card for pre-emptively protecting a combo turn. Either an opponent gives up a counterspell to stop it, putting them down one and giving an opportunity to gather info before committing to the combo, or they allow it to resolve and give up the chance to stop you with spells later. It's made sure I win games, so I'll keep using it.

Verity Circle: My choice of replacement for Rhystic Study. Not nearly as good, but my meta includes a Kinnan deck and it gives an option for extra card draw.

Vindicate: I know that it's not really efficient enough for true cEDH play, but this card is never-the-less a personal inclusion for sentimental reasons that I feel doesn't detract from the deck in any meaningful way given my local meta for tuned play.

Etherium Sculptor / Mystic Remora: The former is included in place of Helm of Awakenining, and the latter ommitted, because of limitations in the cards I can easily get my hands on at this time and will be fixed up when that situation changes.

Mana Drain: Considering the high price of a Mana Drain, the situational benefit of some extra colourless mana next turn is just not worth it.
