Be aggressive! Be, be aggressive! —Aug. 29, 2017

Took my Hapatra deck to FNM for the first time, and got absolutely bodied(1-3). The decks that I lost to were Ramunap red, Cats, and a UW lifegain artifact deck revolving around Aetherflux resevoir.

The main problems that I ran into were that my sideboard wasn't particularly suited for my local meta, and I wasn't aggressive/ I didn't have any game-enders. As a result of this FNM, I think that the following changes will improve my deck significantly.

+3 Archfiend of Ifnir

+3 Key to the City

-3 Soulstinger

-2 Decimator Beetle

-1 Nest of Scarabs

Cards like Soulstinger and Nest of Scarabs promote slower, grindier games, which I don't want to be doing in my meta. As well, I feel that Archfiend of Ifnir and Key to the City will give my creature base the aggression/ evasion that it needs.

As for the sideboard, I found that decks with going-wide strategies make this deck cry, so I need mass removal in the sideboard. I am unsure whether to run Bontu's Last Reckoning or Yahenni's Expertise

If you aren't running proper removal, you will have a hard time. Fatal Push plus the spoiled Walk the Plank should be in your 75 somewhere. Lethal sting has a nice -1 counter for you but is too slow and expensive.

I like it though - it pushes a line hard and has a proper counter to control with Prowling Serpopard.

Thanks for the comment! I really wanted to run Lethal Sting for the synergy, but I agree that Fatal Push is just better, especially seeing as how my early game is weak. As for the Walk The Plank, I think that it being at sorcery speed will make the card a hard sell, and at best it might be a sideboard option depending on how popular merfolk end up being.
